Screeching Brakes

Not sure of any fix...but my brakes just started screeching too after being parked for few hours in the cold....well, 9F (-13C) here in Chicago. It's so loud that the other day my coworker parked by me and asked me if everything was okay with the car.

Yes the screeching is back for the winter again! Had mine replaced in Feb of this year. Was OK until the temp dropped. It's +5 F outside and is very loud when backing up. Time for a trip to the dealer

I just noticed this "issue" yesterday, as soon as the temps dropped below freezing. It goes away when the car is warmed up, however. I'll attribute this to the cold weather (my car is 2 weeks old, so I'm certain nothing needs replacing yet).

My brakes screech after the car has been washed. MB says it's dust on the brake pads. They looked at it during the service but didn't fix. For a car of this value to have the screech on every stop is unacceptable.

mine just started screeching the last few days too due to the cold temperatures.
It did go away after a few brake pumps but yeah its pretty loud......
Not sure if I wanna spend a day at the dealer for this though,
might have them check my crazy collision prevention sensor at the same time :p

Mine is doing this as well. My dealer said Mercedes is aware of the problem and will notify when a fix is available. As long as there isnt any loss of power its supposedly not a big deal. However, its annoying when your 50k car sounds worse than a '91

Extemely loud on my 2016 C300
My car recently developed this issue. Usually only on the first start up in the morning in reverse. It's freaking loud!! I always hope my neighbors aren't out when I back out of the garage. We took it in yesterday to have it looked at. Mercedes told us that there is a bulletin on it, and a special grease will take of it. First thing this morning it did the same thing. Even seemed louder than before. I guess I did start noticing it when it got colder. It got down to 0° this morning in Oklahoma City.

Mine has been "repaired" twice. It was first fixed early 2015 before the service bulletin by replacing pads and rotors. The screeching recurred the next winter. This time the official "fix"(shims) were added. Each repair appeared to have helped, but the screeching eventually came back.
This is my third winter. The screeching is back, AGAIN.

My car is at the dealer currently dealing with a sunroof rattle & screeching brakes. This is the 3rd time is has been in for the brakes. The dealer acknowledges the noise but does not know what is causing it. They are dragging their feet about replacing the pads/rotors. The pads were replaced at 18,000 miles (but not the rotors) and the car now has 30,000 miles on it and the SA stated there is plenty of pad life left. I'm not giving up on this either. I sound like a garbage truck coming to a stop and its embarrassing. I even said my loaner car didn't have this issue for the 2 weeks I had it in November while the wrist pin issue was being addressed. Hopefully they figure something out.

my 2015 C300 was screeching. fixed two times I don't remember what exactly they did and I didn't care much - only screeched first 1 minute when warming up the car.
Im driving a C43 now, no screeching - or it's not the same screeching my C300 had. it's minimum but sometimes it happens when raining, again very minor issue and I can barely hear it. It's no longer during the warming up period. It's on and off. My conclusion is that it's a different "issue" than this thread is discussing. Maybe C43 uses different brake pad/shim ... I don't really know.

Took it in for same issue, Dealership is saying they will go 50/50 for new pads. My car has 20k miles on it and dealership is saying the warranty on the pads is up to 12k. Called corporate and waiting for a response back.

The screeching is not worn pads and is an issue MB has been working to solve (per my dealer, fwiw).

The GLC forum has a thread about the same issue, and there is a report there of a new TSB as of 12/22/16. Does anyone here know if the rotors and brakes are the same on the two models? My dealer told me in November that both models have the problem.

Just noticed I posted the reply in the wrong forum! Mine is GLC. But then it confirmed THIS does have a history, and seems they haven't figured out a fix in 2 years!
Called dealer today, they said still no fix, they are waiting for MB.

I just got back from the dealer. Of course they couldn't reproduce the screeching (it was 40 degrees) so no repairs were done. I guess I'll have to leave the car with the dealer the next time we get temps of about 20 degrees. Maybe I'll email a video with the brakes screaming.

My wife's C300 is doing the same thing. When she pulls out of the garage, the sound can be heard echoing through the entire neighborhood. She leaves for work very early (5ish) and it's loud enough to wake me up, who knows who else in the area hates us for it.
I asked the dealer about it, and they said it's probably just build up on the brakes. Not sure I buy that. It's only done it when very cold though. Car has about 15k on it now. Don't recall it doing this early 2016 when it was cold.
The thing is, it's started doing it a lot more when not so cold. After being warmed up a bit. I'd hate to get new brakes on a car with well under 20k, seems crazy.
I'll eventually take it in, but I will be following this thread to see if anyone else finds a solution.
