I have no idea why ride heights on these cars with AMG package are so inconsistent.... half of them I see on the road look right and half look like 4x4s.... this news about some of the AMG sport cars having the comfort suspension is interesting and is probably the difference. Just can't believe it.

Mine is a 10/14 build and is 4matic, so it is not an error that occured over a short period with just a few cars, what with your being a January build. I don't know what I could do about it, though. I doubt MB is going to change out the suspension.

Jchungster,

Can you measure the height from the ground to the top of the fender (my is 28") and the gap from the top of the wheel to the top of the fender (mine is around 2.5").

This way, we can confirm that the 486 Suspension is lower than the 485 Suspension. Its hard to tell in picture is yours is really lower than mine.

My car was produced on 1/27/15. I checked the data chart and mine has the 486 suspension.

Just got back from dealer and confirmed with service guys that I have the comfort suspension at least on the service computers.

They are gonna get back to me next week.

I also found another RWD C300 Sport on the lot that looks to have the proper suspension and took pics with my car and that car next to each other. Its hard to see from the pics there is about a 3/4" difference in the gap.

thanks for sharing this photo. difference should be less, at least as per MB specs - 15 mm = 0.6 inches.

btw, your car seems ok to my eye - at least in the posted crop. do you have more photos including the whole cars ?

It's not terrible but that small drop makes the car look much nicer.

Anyway, I paid for a sports suspension so I should get what I paid for.

Did the rear gap seem like a bigger difference?

Yes, the rear gap has a little bigger difference. The difference is really hard to see in photos but in person it is very very obvious.

you can check pictures thread for my 2 posts - imo, the bigger gap for rear can be noticed even in photos ...

i hope it will become less obvious when getting my tank full ( 66l ) and placing some load in the boot.

I am a little ticked about this whole thing. I wanted to purchase a sport package, but I also wanted to stay away from the firmness of a sport suspension...so instead, I bought a base model. Come to learn I could have bought what I truly wanted, I would just have to verify if it says SA 485 on the build sheet. Its not just a few cars either. I saw one dealer that had 5 sport packages on their lot that have 485 suspension. I'd really like to know the reason why some of these sport models are having 485 comfort running gear installed. Make no sense at all!

I have a sport 300 RWD coming in a few weeks. I will not be happy to not get the sport suspention . What kind of reply are you getting from dealership about switching to the correct springs 486

nineteen, i would go and approach the dealer now - till the car is not built, you can still change things

ask him to check how your car has been configured for production ... mention you want to have 486 suspension if sport suspension is your choice ...

Sucks when you don't get what you ordered.

There are people who would WANT this combination (AMG package, but softer suspension), such as myself...Too bad this is a screwup rather than a choice :/

chuckie, if you ask me I would go for an additional set of 19" AMG wheels (225/40 front, 255/35 rear). it might be a good tradeoff based on the following reasons:

1/ ride quality of comfort suspension + 19" wheels should be better than sport suspension + 18" wheels - you can test this
2/ look should be very close to 18" wheels + sport suspension setup ( at least top of the wheel to fender gap ) - check Capt slo's photo in pictures' thread
3/ no intrusive change of car's setup
4/ you might get them from your dealer at good price, if not free of charge, as he will try to find a solution for you ( and keep 18" for winter ).

Chuckieboy,
I was at my dealer this morning scheduling the repair of my bleeding seats. I brought up the 485 comfort suspension on my car with my service adviser. He said I need to get in contact with MBUSA, and that they couldn't do anything about it without input from them.

I guess your dealer is a little more helpful, if they are contacting MBUSA for you. I plan to do it myself, and will update this thread if I get anywhere. Maybe with two of us, we might get some traction.

I can't believe people aren't making a bigger deal out of this... if it isn't an option on the spec sheet there shouldn't be a variation like this from car to car....

I contacted my dealer and they were of no help. I have to go through my paperwork see if I have anything else. All my window sticker says is that I have the 321 sport package and sport suspension with 19 AMG alloy wheels on high performance tires. This is with no airmatic.

Enter your VIN here : http://carinfo.kiev.ua/cars/vin/mercedes

It will spit out your data card, and one of the numbers will be either 485 or 486 for suspension
