Mercedes-Benz C450 AMG Sport Is One Fast Poser
#76
In several track lap comparisons, CLA45 has always done faster time than M235i.
Besides, "quicker and faster" is redundant.
Makes one wonder the value of your opinions on C450 also.

This hasn't been discussed much but the C450 and GLE450 will be the first MB's to use fake exhaust sounds pumped into the cabin...
We all knew that since BMW has been doing it that it was only a matter of time before MB copied.

Agree completely..
Glyn M Ruck is imo gone of the reservation long ago. Many value his help and advice, but for a Moderator, he is being overly dominant in the discussions on this forum. Moderators acting like that, wearing two caps, is always an unholy mix and rarely accepted on other forums like this.
BTW warnings from moderators to a memeber should be sent via PM, not in public like Glyn M Ruck seems to think is the way to do it. Poor taste plain and simple..

A quote from C&D:
All the while, the V-6 sounds incredible, with a lighter, less restrictive exhaust system than the C400 and a delicious crackling pop-pop-pop on overrun that recalls that of the Jaguar F-type V-6. This is a powertrain that encourages you to wring it out. Like, all the time.

Where are you getting this from? Please provide a link. I've read everything I can find on the C450 AMG and have not seen this.

its the same engine so I cant imagine why the GLE needs fake exhaust and the C450 doesn't.

Engine sounds are augmented. Oh yes, that means fake noise, which is enhanced in the Sport modes "especially when downshifting."

Cool vid, I believe the C450 will have electronically adjustable exhaust and will vary with drive mode.

Only thing I don't like about the c450 are those god awful rims!! Would love some split five spoke rims...
That exhaust sounds better than the f80 m3/4... The crackle really had an amg flavor to it....

They are different exhaust noises by design. Those who buy an M4 obviously will likely prefer its sound over the C450 or CLA45 sound.

Way to keep it classy.
Glyn should apologize for that remark or have his mod status removed.

You don't understand the Eilers history. He is just back from suspension.
EDIT: For his insults to members & lack of decorum.

I see we've both been on MBWorld for 6-7 years, although perhaps in different forums, as I note you have or had an E Class. On the W204 until recently, I watched Glyn, as a Moderator, expertly and diplomatically deal with some of the most irritating and inappropriate behaviors over that time with his grace and skill. He continues to do so, using sequential techniques as a situation escalates. At the point he is in the current situation, there remains a difference between an insult versus an observation of behavior as a discipline technique. As to him handling parts of this matter in public, it only reflects his use of documented more effective procedures. (Please see the link I posted earlier, above, #70 on page 3.) Any forum would be privileged to have Glyn devote the attention and knowledge that MBWorld members have received. And, no, I don't know him personally...we are literally on the other side of the world from each other, never having met nor spoken.

I wish this thread would just be about the C450. With the only current petrol options for the w205 in the UK being the c200 and the c63(s) I would really consider this car as an ideal solution for my long term driving needs. *sigh*

So what about the c450 engine allows it to crackle and pop like an amg engine but the c400 does not... Is it the exhaust?
Some people will like the smooth character of the 7g tronic over the mct ... They both have their quirks

It's in the exhaust & the valve overlap due to "hotter" cams/different cam timing mapping.

C450 (pre-ordered Jan 14)
It's probably just a bit of software reprogramming. In an ordinary car, the fuel system will cut the fuel supply to an engine during overrun/deceleration, to prevent the kind of crackling and popping that will occur if raw fuel makes its way through the cylinders (which aren't using it) and into the exhaust system where it ignites. So.... if the engineers want exhaust popping, they'd just feed a bit of fuel during deceleration.

Some people would also prefer the softer suspension instead of the harsh AMG suspension.
MB believes that those who want the watered down AMG vehicle outweigh those who want a powerful and comfortable W205.

I would have to agree with Benz... The more dollars the consumer spends on horsepower the more likely they'll want a stiffer ride and better handling etc associated with that power ...
Basically as I see it between the c63 and c450... The 7g vs mct is a little bit of a big deal... Some may not like the mct for daily driving ..
And the 7g is a rate limiting step for mods/tune of the c450... It cannot handle the power like the mct can...
