My Build
Hi all,
Just a few posts to this point. Thought I would share my build that I ordered back in December. It was supposed to come in during the middle of March, but it looks like it will be pushed out to the first week of April. All good things come in time...
I went with what I believe is a pretty unique color combination. Hope it works.
Can't wait for this car to get here...

Got an email from the salesman at the dealership today. Cars production date is March 31st. Hopefully will show up not too long afterwards. Hopefully it doesn't take them too long to ship that car to MD.

Built date
I haven't been able to pin my dealer with an exact build date. I ordered in Jan and was initially told early Feb. Then was told late March. Still don't have a date and when I wrote to MBUSA I was given a canned answer that lots of things affect build dates yada yada. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong since your SA took the time to actually contact you to tell you.

I have similar dates - being born on March 31, and delivered the first week in April. I ordered in early Dec. My guy said the holdup was the Open Pore Ash Wood and HUD. He said I will be the first C-Class from this dealer to have a HUD...

I really thought about the HUD, but couldn't justify the extra cost given how much I was spending already on this car. I'm betting it's one of those things (like you) that once I had it, I would never want to live without it.

That's interesting...my sale guy was able to look up potential build dates on the computer and give me an estimate back in Dec or Jan when I ordered. He said he would keep an eye on it for me...and then let me know when it had slipped back to March 31. Guess it's how pro-active a particular sales person is or isn't...

I get that, but I look at it in just the opposite way. Since I am spending so much on the car, the percentage increase for the HUD is not that much. But I am a gadget guy, so I would regret not getting it every time I drove the car.

It might be a good idea to ask your salesman to confirm that the 486 sport suspension is on the build sheet. Some Sport models have been inexplicably coming through with the 485 Comfort suspension. The original purchase order omits this, but the later build sheet should show the suspension option.
Regarding options ... it's all a matter of personal taste and driving conditions. I did not opt for any of the driver assistance packages since that would be wasted on the rural driving I typically do. One other car on the road is traffic; two is a traffic jam. When I am on the highway, about 75% is on open roads with little traffic. If I had crowded commutes and had to deal with real traffic on a daily basis, I'm sure my option list would have changed.
"Must haves" are what you feel you need to enhance your driving experience ... and that varies with different drivers.

Sales guy just got back to me and the build sheet does have the 486 Sports suspension...so that's good news.
Other good news is that he saw on the computer that my build started today. Almost wish I could go down to Alabama and watch...

Stan: forgive the ignorance but I have the airmatic (489). Does that automatically keep 486 from appearing on the build sheet? I ordered a sport packaged 300

StanNH good call on having people check on their suspension selections. My order that I was waiting for since January arrived this week with the 485 instead of 486 suspension. I rejected the car even before it arrived at the dealearship. MB has been screwing up royally with the 205 roll out that I am thinking of skipping the car entirely until all the issues are ironed out.
