I am surprised it took this long for someone to set up the typical "how old are you?" thread. Now all we need is the standard "how much money do you make?" thread and this forum will be complete.

57 and 56, respectively, essentially the same. The differences between brands are much more psychographic, not primarily demographic, but Baby Boomers still dominate the market. Gen X is a smaller cohort and Millennials are just getting going, with a few affluent ones in the mix.

Or you can hope that your kids will be successful enough at the age of 19 to be able to afford a new Mercedes.

I got the AMG Line and tinted windows, so my wife would not call it a grandpa-mobile.

Now she calls it a yuppie car...

Sportstick we gave you a beautiful language but hey I'm just a 40 year old engineer, so what the hell does all that mean!

I assume you're in the U.K., where Professor Henry Higgins observed that, in America, English hasn't been spoken in years!

Anyway, psychographics = how you think. Demographics = what you are. What that means is the more important differences and predictors of what you will or won't like have more to do with your attitudes and opinions, and less whether you are young, old, male, female, etc. I can show you from our company's research the same attitudes in an old male and a young female with different incomes, ethnicities, etc. who want the same car, and different attitudes between two people who seem identical, but want very different cars. We have age and gender differences on this forum among people who love the W205. I would look similar based only on those measures, but my preferences lay elsewhere. In short, the stereotype of "age" is really just a state of mind.

The other part is that there are still more folks born from 1946-1964 with money who are pushing up the median age of luxury products, not enough from 1965-1980 to offset them, and those born after 1980 (a big wave of people!) haven't made enough of a dent yet in the luxury car market.

Time to go down the lift, jump in the lorrie, and go get some bangers and mash!

Sportstick - got it geezer!

To think I bought this Mercedes purely based on rear legroom for my teenage daughters, would have had a 3 series touring otherwise. Lexus never sold a wagon, the wife didn't take to the Mazda 6, and everything else on the UK market had a variation of grey/charcoal/black on the inside so a no go there!

Did you know that when you create a new thread, MBWorld offers you a "Post a Poll" feature? Scroll down to the bottom of the choices offered for the new thread. This poll feature will add up the answers as running totals. I believe it will create a bar chart. I know it offers a choice of how many categories you want.

I recommend that you ask the moderator to terminate this thread, so you can start over. The single digits you are receiving on individual comments are impossible to analyze.
