Praise The Lowered!

Well here's a few fairly crappy photos of my recently lowered and partially blacked out C300. I still plan to wrap the mirrors (or buy OEM black ones) and install my roof spoiler (still need to paint or wrap it though)

So far I'm very happy with the results! It's currently riding on 18" AMG reps with Pirelli Sotto Zeros, March is the snowiest month in Colorado so they'll stay on most likely until the end of April. After that I'll put the 19" AMGs back on. My wife is driving it to Vail today and they're calling for 5"-10" up there, she asked how the car will handle the weather now that it's been lowered...I told her it'll make a great plow! She didn't find it as amusing as I did.

Very nice wheels! Those were exactly the ones I had my eye on when looking for a winter set. GF Said she wanted something with more spokes. I should've went with my gut!

Btw, how is your front license plate afixed?

Thanks! I really like the wheels however two of the AMG decals have already fallen off, oh well, no biggie.

I used double sided tape to put the plate on...it doesn't look that great in the photo but I didn't want to visit the dealer unless it was absolutely necessary. I'll have them install the bracket upon for my first service.

Wow! This car looks perfect! How did you lower it? And, what's up with that front plate?

Thank you. The plate is temporarily held on by double-sided tape, I'll have the bracket installed upon my first service visit. I'd probably press my luck and run without the front plate altogether but seeing as I live in downtown Denver that's not a very good decision.

Someone posted a great front plate holder that mounts under the front bumper and pops the plate up and folds it down out of sight by remote control. If I ever have to put on the front plate, that's what I'm going with. I can't stand the idea of drilling holes in that beautiful front bumper.

As for the lowering, what springs did you use and how is the ride affected?

I've actually got one of those plate holders rat-holed away somewhere that I bought years ago and never installed. I really don't mind the look of a front plate mounted to my bumper and since it's a requirement I really don't care that the bracket needs to be drilled into my bumper, it's not like I'm ever going to remove it anyways.

I lowered the car using Vogtland springs, they seem to be the only solution at the moment for 4M cars.

How much you pay for the installation? I want to find a reputable shop to do it correctly. Did you have to install any toe or camber kit? Did you do an alignment? I've always had lowered vehicles and itchy to get the C300 lowered but wanted to do this the right way this time. I know that if not done correctly tires wear out quickly and alignment is needed often.

I horse traded with a mechanic friend to do the work so I'm not sure what the true cost would be at a normal shop. I'd guess 5-6 hours labor plus the cost of an alignment???

Haha, thanks! Back in my youth I found a license plate frame with that quote and it's never left me.

I've lowered most every car that I've ever owned and I gotta say this car does ride very harsh with the Vogtlands. This is my first experience with Vogtland and Mercedes, I'm a bit surprised.

At least you've probably got better roads conditions in Miami than we do in Denver, so there's that.

Yep, that's why I always keep a jug of Blinker Fluid handy...you never know when you'll need it.
