When at Home i have my car parked near my living room window and my phone is connected to my home wifi the picks up my wifi connected phone and my online services work fine, i can check News, Facebook etc but when i drive away from my home and my phone reverts back to the networks (Virgin) 3g service the online service stops working and either just Loads or message appears stating Data Connection temporary not available

Please help

Is it simply My Virgin 3g service isnt quick enough or is there something im doing wrong? I have Bluetooth tethering but will only work over wifi

Hi, I'm also in the UK and my phone contract is with Virgin but this is only a guess because I haven't yet got my C200 (it's due end of May). My guess is that the problem is with the Virgin contract which I believe doesn't allow phones to be tethered to other devices which I suppose is to limit the amount of data sent over 3G. I briefly looked into this issue last year and thought it might be necessary to change to EE or one of the other providers or another solution might be to purchase the Mercedes Bluetooth Telephone Module which costs about £500 https://www.commandonline.co.uk/Merc...-4-Cradle.html But I think there are limitations with this device when it's used with phones that don't have the Bluetooth SIM Access Profile (SAP). My Nokia Lumia phone runs the Windows Phone operating system which doesn't yet support SAP.

Please let me know what you discover.

I spoke to Virgin and they said they cannot stop tethering they just dont support it and if they notice tethering is being used due to data used then internet will be suspended. Tethered my phone to my galaxy Tablet and the internet worked So Virgin believe its the car. As i said it works when my phone is connected to my wifi but stops working when my phone switches over to the 3g network meaning either the settings need changing or the 3g itself is that poor, Gunna try with someone elses phone on another network before changing network provider

Thanks for this very interesting information. From what Virgin have said it seems the problem lies with 3G speed or phone or car settings/capabilities. What phone do you have? I wish I had my C200 so I could be more helpful.
