Unhappy Rattles

Anyone been encountering any rattles in their C400/300? I only have 2,500 miles on mine and I've got two really obnoxious rattles. The first one comes from the passenger seat where the seat belt clicks into. It is consistent enough where if the road is even slightly bumpy I hear it rattling when I don't have a passenger in the car with me (which is about 85% of the time). The othe rattle isn't consistent but very loud. It seems to be coming from the middle of the dash up towards the windshield. I can reproduce if I knock on the dash but it doesn't seem to happen all the time while driving so I'm not sure of the dealership will be able to reproduce it and fix it.

I'm taking the car in tomorrow morning to have these looked. Hoping they don't introduce any more rattles by trying to fix these two.

Anyone have any luck with getting some rattles taken care of by their dealership?

Today I experienced the same rattle as you describe in the upper part of the center of the dash towards the windshield. When I grabbed the edge of the center mounted screen the rattle stopped. So I assume the screen needs to be tightened at its mounting point.

I thought it might be the display as well but when I grabbed mine it didn't stop. It seems it may be coming from somewhere around the speaking in the middle of the dash.

Don't know if this will help.. Had a rattle coming from the centre console area the other day, worked out it was coming from the raised cover of the cup holder. Closed cover, rattle gone.

I had a rattle coming from the center console that turned out to be from the sunglass compartment. My glasses are now in their cleaning case and the rattle is no more.

These two are definitely coming from the locations that I originally pointed out...but that seems odd that you'd have a rattle from that. That would drive me nuts as my cup holder cover is always up as that is where I put my phone as well as my morning coffee!

I have never been able to get a pair of my sunglasses to fit in any sunglass compartment in any vehicle I've owned no matter the manufacturer. I guess Oakley sunglasses just don't fit in them.

Actually, this is the first car I've had that my Oakleys fit in (Flak Jackets)

Yeah my passenger seatbelt buckle rattles also. I can recreate the sound by flicking it with my hand. I have a schedule with the dealer on Thursday to have it fixed, along with the alignment and engine turning itself off.

I actually just got a new pair of Oakleys this afternoon in the mail so I will have to see if they fit once I get my car back. Would be nice if they finally did fit.

Yep, sounds exactly like mine. They said they should have mine fixed by Monday. I'll post an update and let you know if they were able to fix it or not.

Got the car back from the dealership today. Both rattles were successfully fixed. Now I'm just hoping that no other rattles happen later on.

I'm curious what model of Oakleys they are. Haven't tried my 'full' Jackets, but my Flak Jackets fit just fine.

I forgot to try! I'm so used to not putting them in there and it's just habit to either walk into the house with them on or just set them on the center console. I'll try it in the morning.

My current ones are The Crankshaft model. I don't recall the previous model name but they are definitely bigger than the Crankshaft ones.

The Oakleys do fit, albeit it's a bit of a tight fit.

So I've had a slight rattle in the centre part of the dash since delivery but never thought much of it... now its gotten louder and my OCD has kicked in and it annoys the hell out of me.. Those of you who have had it fixed already, did they say what it was exactly?

If I recall correctly they just stated on the paperwork that they removed the dash put some felt in there then replaced the dash and were unable to replicate the issue. It's been fine ever since they did this.

I've got what I can only describe as a cheep coming from somewhere up front. Anyone has anything similar?

That does sound like keyless. Its 4/5 short chirp noises, once at startup, once a few minutes later and that's about it. I think its interference from the keyless stuff over the audio system. We're still waiting to hear from MB or other owners to see if it will ever be rectified but it doesn't bother me that much, only notice it now and then.
