That what i said to the salesman, not much difference in look with the AMG lines. Can't really tell unless you know what you are looking for.

I wish they would release the C450 in the UK sooner. I'm itching to put some money down. I may end up going with the 340i when it is released this summer. If they have sorted out the interior to the bimmers and it's near C Class level then I could go with that. It looks great with the M-Performance add ons...
M-Sport/AMG is too much power for my needs - I would only use 60% of its performance at a push.
/End rant.
Nearly all of the new AMG cars have the A-wing front splitter now (spy shots indicate that the A45/CLA45 cars will be receiving this feature as well). That's a pretty unique styling cue, in my humble opinion.
Furthermore, with the W205 C63, you've got things like the massive twin power domes on the hood, the single-blade AMG grille, the much bigger brake hardware, true quad exhaust w/ 4 separate tips, etc.
Historically, all AMG cars have looked pretty darn similar to their standard car counterparts. With the facelift/LCI W204 cars, the standard C300 looks almost identical to the C63 from the rear. The latter has 3 subtle fins incorporated into the diffuser and 4 exhaust tips instead of two. The trunk spoilers are also subtly different.
Same story with the front (standard LCI W204 and LCI C63 are very similar; like the W205 v. the W205 C63, the differences include different grilles, slightly different lower front fascias, and the absence of power domes on the standard car):

So, although the LCI versions of the W204 C300 and W204 C63 look similar in some regards, they don't look overly similar to those that see them regularly/know the cars well. It is just easier to differentiate cars that you see on a daily basis (I know operate that way).
I think the standard LCI W204 C-Class cars are very sharp but I'd never mistake a stock one for a C63. Same goes for the W205 platform.
My 2 cents.

.You say that it's too much power now, but you really get used to it. It really isn't too powerful, it's just the right amount
. If you were to drive a C63 for a week then any other car for a week....you will be missing that extra power of the C63 after the first 30 min in that other car

That's not to say it doesn't have amazing performance. But most people don't need or won't use even half the power or performance of a C63 but they want to make their 4 pot saloon look like one! MB sell more cars and punters feel/look they're driving a 'performance car'. Everyone's happy.

BMW and Audi do exactly the same with their M-Sport and S-Line trims.

I understand and respect your point about power but personally I don't need it. Would I be able to tell the difference in power between the C450 & C63 - certainly! They are different cars and will behave differently on the road. But for me personally I don't need that much power in a car I intend to drive very often. The balance of power, usability, and practicality is important for my car choice. I sold my R8 V10 a few months ago because I favoured my wife's more practical VW Polo!
I estimate that I used about 40% of the R8's 500+ horses on a regular basis. I would open up the car occasionally but still I estimate that it was probably about 60-70% of it's capabilities, even when hitting 160mph on an empty flat road. I never intended to track the car and living in London you are severely restricted to how much power you can put down. It was a beast though and is missed but something more sensible is in my future...
But for me there was more of a difference between the C63 and AMG trim base model for the w204. Perhaps it's more apparent in person for the w205?
I can spot the w204 c63 from a mile off but I don't think this will be the case for the w205. The differences are less obvious. For example both versions have twin tail pipes (ignoring that some of the base models actually have fake tips). Yes the c63 has quad pipes but they are a similar overall size. On the w204 model the lower models had a single exhaust tip. I think my point is that the differences are less apparent.
My 2 pence.
