Water Pump Replacement

Hello,

I just want to share this information. I own a W205 Petrol and it has 8 months and 7400 km.

They just changed my water pump, the car left me on the road 3 days ago because it overheated luckyli I stoppet soon enough that it didn't boil.

It really is a shame for such a car and I hope these problems won't just continue to show up.

Most problems have been related to fit and finish, with very few mechanical issues being reported. I would guess this is a one time occurrence and unlikely to ever happen again.

HELP !! Water Pump Replacement Labor Charges

My 2015 C300 just completed 4 years and went out of warranty in Feb 2019 and I faced issue with overheating. I took the car to Mercedes Benz service center and they to me its the water pump that needs to be replaced and gave me an estimate of $1500 since the warranty just got over. Luckily I had a 3rd party warranty (Portfolio Protection) and they covered the water pump. Today after 5 days the service advisor got the authorization for repair but he told me that Portfolio is not covering the labor cost at 100% and i will have to pay about $400 since they did not approve 7 hours of labor. When I called Portfolio claims dept. and they told me that they refer the following labor guides to approve the labor hours and below is what came out of these guidelines to replace a water pump:
1. Nationally acclaimed labor guide - 3 hours2. AllData labor guide - 3 hours3. Mercedes Benz factory labor guide - 2.9 hours.Since all the three guidelines had 3 hours mentioned they approved 4 hours (with 1 additional hour for diagnostics). However, since the Mercedes service advisor requested for 7 hours they refused the labor cost for 3 hours which is coming out to $300 and then $100 for the deductible I had. Can anyone help me with this situation? Can i find a Mercedes Labor guide online somewhere?

The issue is, quite simply, many repair operations cannot be conducted in accordance with the times posted in the labor guide....
