Question for Bluetec owners

Ok, so tonight when I got home I was reversing into the garage and noticed in the reverse camera steam coming from the exhaust pipes... Only once I got out of the car, I noticed that it wasn't steam, but white smoke? a fair amount of it.
I left the engine running and it stopped after about 2-3 minutes...

Can someone shed some light on whether this is normal? Ive had diesel before just not with adblue. The BMW 320d never blew any smoke at all, ever, that I saw, in the 20,000km I owned it.

The W205 has about 1,600km on the clock.

Ive read through the manual (which is not the greatest) and it makes zero mention to any sort of diesel exhaust burn off process...

Any info from other owners would be appreciated, Cheers, Matt

Nothing like that on my C220 in 3.000 Km. Maybe DPF cleanup?

hi there,

I got a c220, i think i just past around 3500 miles now, and nothing with me. However i had something like this on my brand new astra 2 years ago. It just started randomly steaming, they said some plastic was melting off and falling onto the exhaust which caused it. but i highly doubt it. Either way it happened a few times from the exhaust. Try and check with a torch light or take it straight to mercedes.

I have 14000 km on my car and I have not noticed anything similar but we have quite different running conditions.

Yep... we got it as well. The wife rang up in a panic the other morning said there's white smoke coming out of the car and a noticeable smell. She took it down to the dealer and they confirmed it was the Particulate Filter doing a high temp burn. Apparently the system goes through a periodic process of carrying out a regeneration of the Diesel Particulate Filter whereby the exhaust system is heated beyond its normal operating temperature and that can cause the wax finish on the exhaust from factory to burn off.

Thank god... haha I was pretty sure it was normalish.... however the manual is very vague in most aspects and nothing about DPF processes etc..

How are you enjoying the AMG Line... 19" ride ok for you?

Loving it. I never got to drive a C with Airmatic, so I don't know what I'm missing. I've only got the base model C200 to compare it to and the 19" AMG wheels with sports suspension are certainly firmer but not uncomfortably so.
