I'm with you, and Porche. An all matte version of buttons, metals and woods seems best option. I remember when super shiny kitchen stainless was in style. What a PITA.
And to be picky, somewhere between the open pore and glossy. There's some has some nice woods that don't reflect and pick up every fingerprint, but wouldn't absorb liquid, or look like some of the ash wood I've seen that already looks like something was spilled on it.

I look after my stuff using common sense so it's not an issue. I don't toss stuff on my console and after 6 months its as new as the day I got it.

No you're not..I love mine too. I think virtually every car I've ever had with the exception of my 2013 E Class has had wood of some description, so I like the change. Sure it gets a bit dusty, but I just wipe it down with a microfibre cloth every now and then whilst stopped at traffic lights. Not suffered any earlier mentioned glare problems either.

This is the pic the dealer sent me, all the codes are very specific to my car so please understand that it wouldn't necessarily work on everyones. They ran my VIN & did research to come up with the part #. I also consulted another dealership and they are actually in disagreement that this is the right part, so this one may not work so I may have to send back this one and order another

Changed my mind
After one weekend testing a W205 with glossy black console I could find out some issues which make me opt for a configuration change (black wood).
Pros:
Looks good
Included in base price
Cons:
Very reflexive on sunny days
Fingerprints everywhere

I also much prefer the shiny console.
The black open pore ash is too reminiscent of cheap 1980's black ash furniture that was ubiquitous in the UK.
However, I like the analogue clock.

I'm looking at getting the centre console wrapped as the thing is a dust/scratch magnet ,I've had a quote of £100 which may vary dependant on the wrap I choose.
I'm curious tho as to how easy it would be to do myself?
I can remove the centre console pretty easily, but how easy is it too remove all the parts from the trim piece (buttons, air vents etc?so I'm left with just the skeleton to wrap...
I havent decided on which wrap but I quite like the finish on this

May be it was discussed earlier, but I'd like to know how do you keep the shiny console free from scratches and marks? And how to clean? Any special cleaner/wax/glaze? I have some micro scratches already in about 1.5 months and wondering what would it look like after 2-3 years. By the way I don't remember touching the console anytime, but still see the scratches.

use microfiber clothes to wipe it down. towels even a cotton one can put those scratches in.
if you want to get the scratches out, buy some meguirs plastx and it should take them out (or well really it polishes the plastic down so the edges of scratches which will catch light wont catch light).

It's the button surrounds that get the finger prints as they get the most use. Doesn't matter what console finish people go for they still get the piano black button surround which is the real issue.
And why most people press the buttons? Because it is 10 times easier than trying to navigate the command or audio 20 system via the control pad or wheel.

They make a cover that goes around the buttons that may prevent some smudges. Im still thinking it through on wrapping my center console along with the door trim. Plan to use the attached link to break up the black from the carbon. Was hoping someone else would post photos of a carbon center console first. Sometimes what you think might look good doesn't always work out.
