Yes. It brakes and steers. Some think it goes a bit fast though. You can lightly ride the brakes to control the speed. It will not detect curbs and you have to be careful not to damage your low profile wheels on the curbs, especially when parallel parking.

hello there, does the active park assist does reverse parking? or is it strictly parallel parking only?

It does both. Additionally, if you parallel park with Active Park Assist, the system can get you out of the spot also.

That's kind of a big part in parallel parking!

I tired this yesterday. It took me half way out of the space before nearly hitting the side of my car against the car in front. I had to stop the system and do it myself.

Like all the assistive tech, I monitor it closely.

How can you use the system to get you out the space or is this US only?

I use this (as above and it was flakey) in the UK. When parked put the indicator on and put the car in drive. The dash asks you if you want assistance. Click ok on the steering and the car does the work.

As mentioned though mine nearly drove itself alongside the car in front, it got it totally wrong.

To be fair getting out of a space is usually easier to do manually than reversing into one.

Further to this. Twice today when the car identified a space I started to reverse after pressing 'ok' to start the process only for it to then give up and let me sail backwards several feet. Perhaps it first thought I could get in and then changed its mind?

I parked it manually in the very same space. A foot in front and behind.

Mine has worked flawlessly both parallel and perpendicular parking. I believe you have a defect that your dealer needs to check out.

Good luck!

Has worked well for me. The perpendicular was a bit fast so I kept my foot lightly on break.

I suspect, in hindsight, that I might have rushed the system. I'll keep an eye on it.
