Head discolouration!

Help! Can someone tell me if this discolouration can be fixed ? I saw it two days ago, i have a diamond white car and now the front has a grey line and at the end it looked like some paint has dissolved. Only got the car 1 month ago!

I'm sure this is covered by warranty, just take it back to the dealers where you brought it from.

i was thinking it could be because i parked against a portable shed with plastic grey sides, would they still fix it under warranty? And do i have to return to the same dealership?

No, collision damage is not covered by warranty.

Sorry but its just soft plastic, probably was just covering the front of my car, could this be under warranty? I have no idea what happened, it was fine for weeks until 2 days ago

From your pics that looks like it was rubbed against something. Its' not discolored or "dissolved" - you are seeing the layers of paint and primer where it was worn away.

That is, almost certainly, abrasion damage. You say the car was parked in front of a soft plastic shed, I would wager that the wind has caused movement which has rubbed at the paintwork. The tell tale sign is that the damaged area is the most protruding part, ONLY.

yes, you can take it back to your dealer, but I suspect they will paint/replace at your cost, I'm afraid.

Fact is that rubbing action - even against relatively soft items, will quickly damage paintwork, if it is concentrated in a small surface area - that is why something sharp rubbed against paintwork will cause damage, but a large surface area, moved with the same force, will not do so much damage.

"soft plastic" will still wear the paint away as you have now seen.

It's possible that when the dealer was prepping the car for delivery, someone who didn't know what they were doing burnt the paint off of that point with the buffer wheel. It's happened to me before, even on prior Mercedes.

Something worse happened to me when taking delivery of an E46. One of the wash guys prepping the car grabbed a bottle of brake fluid thinking it was wax and melted the paint off of the hood.

However in this case the OP clearly says the problem only occurred recently and he's been parking the car against a shed where there could be "soft" plastic rubbing against it.

I don't know any sheds with soft enough plastic not to take the clear coat and paint off of the creased edge of a car part if it rubs up against it for a while.

That sounds pretty bad, i guess i will have to bring it back to the dealer to get it fixed. Thanks for the comment!

I had little knowledge about the paint, feel like strangling myself for leaving the car there, do you know if re-painting it or something would be a small job or a big? Seriously hope its not gonna cost me a fortune and take a long time

Diamond white is notoriously hard to match. I'd think pretty hard before I'd get that tiny flaw fixed. Doing it right would cost a few hundred bucks. I'd probably touch it up, wet sand the touch up and buff it.

It doesnt feel any different to the other parts, still smooth and all, just the colour, so heartbroken. Yeah, maybe i'll ask for the price first and decide what i should do, might cost a bit
