Need a little help - voice control for phone
So I just received my C300 two weeks ago and I finally had some time to really dig through the documentation but i cannot, for the life of me, make a hands free call using voice control on this thing and I don't know what i'm doing wrong and I can't find an answer. I'm quite tech savvy but I just can't figure out what's wrong and I really don't want to believe that Mercedes made a system that forces me to read every name and dial every number while driving. Seems a little dangerous and ignorant if it is.
Any help is appreciated. I have navi with Garmin MapPilot and media interface with the premium package.
Is this because of the Garmin option? Can I just pull the garmin SD card when not in use and have full voice control? Otherwise the phone is paired and plays bluetooth audio fine. Accepting and hanging up calls works perfectly. Also is there any way to cue siri from the steering wheel? Seems like a no brainer.
thanks in advance! - Bob

Refer to the user guides - download a copy from your country Mercedes site, under Owners area - you can see the different Voice functions available, under Audio 20, or Comand.
You need the extended Voice Controls.

jolt - yes ive reviewed the user guides and help videos online and that's why i'm here. I can't get any answers.
Maniac - well if that's the case then that's the dumbest thing i've ever heard and again shows that the dealers don't know jack since they all said it would work. just sad.

Remmy - I know it seems odd, but as far as I can see the Linguatronic system (enhanced Voice Control) is associated with Comand only. Without that you don't get to control the other systems, apart from Nav, if you have it.
I don't know why your dealer cannot tell you exactly what you have/don't have and exactly which systems your VC can do.
The only other thing you might try is to say "help" and see what possible commands you have available.

Well I appreciate you guys replying. My understanding was that I would still be able to make hands free calls with the garmin system vs. the mercedes nav but apparently this isn't true. This is an utterly ridiculous decision on the part of MB and inherently a safety issue. It's also disappointing that the dealers yes you to death and don't even know the technology. So apparently with the garmin navi the voice control solely controls the garmin functions. FYI to potential buyers.
