I heard from one dealer that 2016 updates the Burmester audio with Burmester "surround" audio system. I dont see that on the 2016 ordering guideline. Is there any validity to this?

My 2015 has surround sound. I believe all premium sound packages do.

There may be some software updates here and there but I doubt that there will be a major redesign of the basic components since its pretty new to begin with. The radio is one of my favorite features. One really annoying caveat, there is no volume level display anywhere.

there is an option in the Audio Settings to adjust the Surround acoustics of the Burmester system

One of two things going on here - either: a) the dealer has no clue about the spec of the cars they are selling, or b) they are spinning you a yarn to make a minor "tweak" sound like something like a major upgrade - in the hope you think you're getting such a marvellous deal - and immediately sign on the dotted line.

You are quite right I was at the time shopping for a 2015 and that salesperson was persuading that I get one from the lot like 'now'. Since then, I went with a different dealership for 2016.

All car audio systems are technically surround. Was the dealer referring to the higher end Burmester 3D system?

That could be what he instead meant, but as I understand from folks here, the 2015 and 2016 audio systems are pretty much identical.
