Fueling problem
Fueling problem
It all started 3 fill ups ago. When I fuel and let go, it stops almost instantly. During these fill ups I usually just hold it...now, my hands are getting tired...
Just moments ago, I went to refuel my tank again and it happened again. I decided to take a look at the assembly. It looks like the bracket chipped off a little. I guess air was leaking and that caused the fueling problem.
Is it hard to replace this?
Is it expensive to fix this?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

interesting. my first 3 fuel fillings are exactly the same way. they are almost impossible to leave alone without holding the lever.
however on my 3rd fill up at Chevron, i was able to balance the nozzle just enough to let it fill up on its own. but it's veryyyyy tricky

It may not be the chipped off issue. I also have the same fueling issue as I previous posted. Costco and Union 76 nozzle was the worst, takes like 10+ mins to fuel up, not to mention holding up the line.
I mentioned the same thing before
in a thread somewhere on here
The worst thing is that people be lookin' at you thinkin' that you don't know how to fill up your own car
No tries to help you out, they just keep lookin'
I think that the issue is the pump itself and not the car

i don't have a w205 or a benz. but i had this happen with my current car (2013 328i).
basically whenever i had the gas pump set to fill, it would click off like the tank was full, and i'd have to stand there like an idiot holding it down.
turned out the fuel fill valve was broken, (thus it thinking it was full all the time). take it to your dealer and have them check it out. half the time people will say something about the nozzles of gas stations having to make a tight seal for vapor loss and the environment, but i bet its the fuel fill valve.

This is a pain, had this happen three times at Costco. So I shoved the nozzle in to create a tighter vacuum the last time and it stuck, pulling on the nozzle for five minutes like a chimp before it released... trial and error but figuredout the right amount of force. Yay MB Engnrs!
For me, this problem seems dependent on the particular pump nozzle. I haven't had this problem on other cars, but the C seems to need a lot of jiggling and delicate placement to avoid the pump shutting off before the tank is full.
I should add this is likely to vary by state. CA has a complicated nozzle designed to recapture fumes which requires a seal against the car's fuel port - or whatever it's called. I've noticed that other states have a simpler nozzle, which probably works with less jiggling.

Had the car in to the dealer today for repair of a trim piece, intermittent Keyless Go, and difficulty in fueling the car.
The service tech had the fuel shutoff valve replaced and said that was the typical cause of fueling issues. There were also two software updates installed .... one for the Keyless Go and one for the engine control module. I haven't noticed any difference in how the car drives or shifts yet, and only time will tell if the reliability issues with Keyless Go have been fixed. Haven't refilled the tank yet, so I still don't know if that's been fixed.
