C300 vs. E350

Hi folks.

I'm close to buying my first MB and I was set on the E350 but it would have to be a 2013 to fit my budget. However, the new C300s are close enough that I might be able to stretch and afford one.

I'd love to hear general reactions as to which car you'd prefer. Assume the E350 has low miles. I know a direct comparison is impossible and I know we're talking turbo vs. non-turbo, 4 vs. 6 cylinder, but l'm hoping for just gut opinions and not lectures on how this isn't a great comparison, it's apples and oranges, etc.

I have an e350 and am looking at getting into the c class. When they first came out, I took a test drive and compared it to my 3012 e350 4matic:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...rspective.html

Generally, the e350 will ride smoother (not counting airmatic) and be quieter than the c300. There is substantially more room as well. The C300 4matic and my e350 4matic felt about the same in day to day driving power. On the other hand, the e350 interior and electronics look (and are) dated in comparison to the C300.

I am not sure you can go wrong either way (well, with a more recent C300 build), so pick which one you like best.

Thank you! I'll read your report tonight. I'm on board with everything you said since I drove both today. The 2015 C300 interior was such a leap forward from the last gen. At first I thought I wanted a 14 C300. That is until I sat in a 15. It's night and day. The E350 is a little dated but more modern than the 14 C300, imo.

Again, thank you. The more people to chime in, the better!

I think you are right in your assessment. If you are buying a 2014 or prior, go for E-class definitely (I would), but if you can jump to a 2015, there is no doubt, C's outward charm way overpowers the E's incremental driving comfort.
