Finally found one that works perfect for me on the center vent. No magnets, no sticky tape and fits all phone sizes. It rotates 360 degrees and side to side, so you can position your cell display portrait or landscape. Easy to attach and remove cell all times. At the end there is a link to a video.
I have the Brodit in my C-class.
Mine is a lease so I did not want to have holes and also did not want to block the vents.
If you have a passenger, they have to keep their knees a bit away from it.
I am very happy with it.
I have the standard piano black center console. It fits perfectly on there. Not sure how it would fit in a wooden center console, since a part slides under the console.
Careful with vent mounts, I find they lower temperature (when on AC) to below the operating temp of the phones (like a metal iphone) and the phone will freeze and shut off randomly

Good point.
Pretty much just close whatever vent the phone is in front of. When I drive long distances I have Escort Live running with the screen on so the phone is staying warmer than just sitting idle.
I missed this thread before. I am still looking for something I like.
Personal taste - but I like the phone to be out of the way, not blocking vents, and not forcing me to keep the cup holder open - which looks awesome when closed.
ProClip has one for the wood interior like mine, but it looks really odd to the passenger. (The picture doesn't show the wood, but this is from the instructions for the wood interior model)
And yes; I know I am being particular. Isn't that why we bought a Mercedes?

I just ordered the ProClip and an adjustable mount for my Nexus 6P - I'll come back with some photos when I've got it installed.
When I was in France I saw a C300 taxi with the phone mounted directly to the left of the screen, as someone who uses Waze that would be the best position but I wasn't actually in the taxi it was driving ahead of us.
...
What kind of mount could go there?
I am trying to figure out the same question. The best bet could be
. It's pretty flexible and you could probably mount it whether on top of the dashboard or onto its driver-facing side (between the gauge and the screen). This solution has one major drawback I need to warn you about, often phone mounts from this manufacturer can leave circular trace or even damage the vinyl (please read amazon reviews).
At this stage I am trying to hack a custom mount using a vent-mounting version and parts from a local hardware store.
Just installed the ProClip with phone holder - it's a perfect fit, phone holder is excellent and very stable. Looks fantastic IMO, best solution for this car.
Yeah, ProClip is expensive but it's the cleanest look. I got a "drop in" cradle for my IPhone so it slides in with one hand and is connected to the car for audio and power.

Yeah this one is a drop in as well, you just loosen a screw on the plate to set it to the correct width. Works great. I decided against the powered unit, it was 3x the price and I'll likely change my phone within the next year. Did you hardwire yours?
So I used it driving for the first time today. It's a bit further out of my eye sight than I'd prefer but I think it's the best of the options out there.

Just go to their site, they have a part finder that will identify the right unit for your car and phone. There are two different mounting plates, one for wood and one for gloss. A million different phone holders too.

Right, so by drop in I mean you can slide the phone into the cradle with one hand and have it connected to the car for power and data. I think the IPhone cradle with integrated Lightning adapter was $80 or so. I ran the cable back behind the mount down to the lower edge of the center console, then tucked it under alongside the passenger seat, then up the back of the console and inside to the USB port. I want the USB vs Bluetooth Audio for quality, and I like being able to charge the phone without having to slide it into the mount then fish around for the cable and hook it up each time.

Ah OK gotcha, sounds like a sweet setup. I need to try the USB audio idea, Bluetooth has an annoying delay for audio commands.
Hi all
I was looking everywhere to mount my phone - but could not find a solution that was neat and also had an active mount (charged my iPhone when docked).
I came up with mounting a dash board disc to the space shown at start of thread and the used a suction cup mount with adjustable arm and an active mount on it. Works perfectly. Holds well enough that you can dock phone to charger one handed and use phone in dock without it moving.
Mount is for an iPhone 5, but used with 6/ and now using with iPhone 7plus, it is active so when docked it charges at same time (although will not allow a case on plus models - not that i use cases!) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142133788947
