The fancy signature is "G. Daimler" for Gottlieb Daimler. His signature signifying that it is a genuine Mercedes-Benz product. The older stickers used to have the signature and "A Daimler-Benz Product"

I just had my windsheild replaced..this clear decal were added on (passenger side crooked and poorly squeegied) at an added cost of $35 without my consent nor request..when I questioned this to my s/a he brought it up with the service manager and they promply offered a credit of which I promply accepted...I have yet to remove it..it would look much better/appropriate if it were etched of silk screened onto the glass...the decal style looks cheesy
And on another note they also charged $235 to reprogram the lane assist, auto wipers and auto dimming..so they said..and if one were to take the vehicel to a non-dealer for replacement I suppose a trip back to the dealer for this so called "needed" service ??

Is the signature on the windscreen/windshield or the tint? Before I got my car I had the windshield tinted by the dealership so I don't know if its something they added or if it is something that was already on the windshield glass.

All the c class i have seen here in france at my dealers and my car all have the signature...honestly i think it is a bit naff as we english say......difficult to translate but in essence a bit silly and vulgar or not very chic or classy but i do not like designer logos which in essence this is.
I do understand that if you have driving systems that use cameras to function replacement of the windscreen does mean they have to be recalibrated but do not understand the reasons why....i certainly would only use my dealer for any work to my windscreen. I had the screen in my glk replaced by them and it was done by their own staff and definately was not subcontracted out to a windscreen company. So i had a mercedes oem replacement screen carried out by mercedes trained fitters at a cost comparable to autoglass in the uk (carglass here).

The sig is bottom right and I believe the dealer does subcontract the work out but it was completed at the dealership at least in my case

hello,
Hw much costs a windshield ? Just to know.
And I am wondering if the windshield comes with a tint from factory ? Or is the only tint the film that we add ?
Thanks.

I drove back to UK from Poland yesterday returning from my Christmas holiday. We were crossing Poland / Germany border about midnight and got stopped by German police. I must admit there was a speed limit 80kph and I was doing somewhere around 100 - 110kph. My wife saw them under a bridge and said to me 'police is there slow down'. 5mins later I saw a car close behind me and I moved to slow lane. When they overtook me we realised it is the police. My wife went 'Great, I said slow down'. They pulled in front of us and shortly after displayed 'follow me' message. We got into the car park and they asked to see the passports and registration document. Didn't say a word about the speed but started to carefully examine the car including windscreen signature and other VIN locations. They took our documents to their car and we saw them calling somewhere. After about 15minutes they returned the passports and registration document and said we are good to go.
I think it may be that if you play around with the VIN behind windscreen you need to replace it but they examined the signature and it looked ok so that is some sort of quick check feature?
I don't know. I was bit puzzled as I have been driving cars since 1994 and that was first time I got pulled over.
Anyway, we learn something new everyday.

I have owned Mercedes since 1977, ten in all. In the old days, we believed that the ones that had the signature on them were cars that were tested before leaving the factory. I'm sure it's a myth, like the number of stripes on the inside of a necktie.
