Going to run my C300 at the dragstrip today for fun

Going to take my 2015 C300 to the local dragstrip to run it for fun today. Any guesses on what it might turn? I'm thinking high 14's and low 90mph range for ET/MPH.

I've read where Motor Trend and Car & Driver ran 14.6-14.8 at 92-93mph with a C300 4Matic. Mine is just RWD, so about 180-200 lbs lighter. (Think I read 4Matics are 3600lbs and RWD's are 3400 lbs roughly). Figured I'd leave it in Sport or Sport+ mode, brake torque it up to 1500-2000RPM and nail it and see how it goes.

Anyone else run theirs yet? Not going to mod this car or anything, just wanted to see what it will do for fun. I'll post up my results later if it all works out and I can make a few passes.

Made it to the track this afternoon with my wife and kids. Made 7 passes. Best was 14.78 @ 94.41. Pretty happy with that considering it's bone stock with 3000 miles on it and it was blistering hot out today.

All passes ranged from 14.78 up to 15.23 (heatsoaked after hot lapping) and 92-94mph. It was really hot today at the track, 90 degrees outside and pretty humid. Not the best conditions for racing. I'm guessing if I ran it in the fall when it's cooler out I might get a 14.5-14.6 or so.

Anyway, had a lot of fun, the kids enjoyed the day at the track, and talked to a lot of cool people in the staging lanes. Here's some pic and a video of my best run...

Very cool!! And that's what it's about is just having fun!! And def kudos to you for racing the right way - at a track versus the highway Or you'd prob be posting a pic of your speed results on the paper citation to appear in court!

Yeah it was a lot of fun! Got 7 passes in and made the first 4 right in a row since no one was in the staging lanes yet when they first opened. My kids are learning to love going to the track too which is cool.

I used to street race people when I was younger but now that I'm older I realize how unsafe it is so I rarely mess with anyone. If I do its from a light up to about 50mph and I let off, I don't go up to 100mph on the street anymore, just not safe for me or anyone else on the road. Not to mention the dragstrip is just way more fun, you get a timeslip, it's safe, you don't have to worry about potholes, cops, traffic, etc. Always a good time!

Sounds like fun! Did you run it in Sport+ and let it shift itself? How about traction control? Also, was wheelspin an issue?

I tried Sport mode first and then Sport+ mode. Sport+ mode resulted in .2 reduction in my ET in a back to back run (hotlapped it) as the trans shifted much quicker/firmer in Sport+ mode.

I turned traction control off on all runs as I read the Motor Trend reviews and they had .1 to .2 slower ET's with traction control on.

Wheelspin was minimal off the line. I think my best 60ft time was a 2.11 or 2.15. On my 14.78 run my 60ft time was 2.19. That's probably pretty close to where it should be given the power level of the car and the ET/MPH it's putting out.

My last run of the day was 15.23, but I ended up having to sit in the staging lanes for quite a while due to another car putting down some fluid on the track and waiting for cleanup. Overall it was consistently high 14's all day long at 93-94mph and this was in 90 degree temps and high humidity. I may try to run it again in the fall and see if I can get a 14.50 or better out of it in stock form.

If I weren't leasing it I would probably buy the tuner from BMS and see if I could crack into the high 13's, but I'll be turning it in soon anyway so not much point in doing that.

It was a lot of fun though. Highly recommend running your car at the dragstrip if you get the chance, it's fun!
