2015 C300 Vs 2016 C300: Opinions requested

2015 C300 Vs 2016 C300: Opinions requested

Hello All!

I Love this forum! I can truly get answers for questions regarding the Mercedes C Class that I cannot find anywhere else. I wanted to ask the forum for their opinion on the 2015 C Class Vs the 2016 C Class.

A little back ground. I am looking to purchase the C300 for my commuter car, but after reading the posts on this forum it looks like there are some mechanical and electronic kinks that need to be worked out.

Does anyone think that the majority of the issues that we see posted on this forum (Nav Sat not working, problems with the Comand System, intermittent electronic issues, ) are due to the 2015 C300 being the first model year?

If so …what are the odds that they fix the issues on the 2016? Due to the options that I would like I believe I will need to order the car from the factory, so if the 2016 will be mechanically better I think it would be better to wait.

Please let me know your thoughts/opinions…..and thank you very much!

P.S – Bonus question!!!!! Who likes the factory spoiler on the 2105 C300? I’m torn and would love to hear some perspectives!

2016 C300
Based on what I've read it should be pretty likely they do fix them on the MY16s.

I was disappointed I couldn't get a MY15 C400 because it was discontinued but with all the potential issues a MY16 C300 would probably be best anyway.

MY16 C300
I don't think you can get a 2015 C300 from the factory any more... at least not in North America (please put your location in your sig file). Last I heard, MY2016 Start of Production is August 2015.... like now.

It's never a good idea to purchase a first year production model, no matter who the manufacturer might be. Chances are that most of the issues pertaining to W205 production @ the Alabama plant will be sorted out by the time MY2016 production begins (this week).

If you are not in a rush, I would suggest that you wait for a few weeks until the first 2016s have arrived @ a MB dealership near you. You could then closely examine them and see if the fit and finish meets your expectations. For example, you might wish to pay close attention to the fitment of the rear bumper and tail lamps to see if everything is properly aligned. This problem was very evident on many early production MY2015 C300/C400.

As for the rear spoiler option, IMO, it does not enhance to the car's appearance.

Mine came with the rear spoiler, I don't think it adds anything.

Unless you can get your hands on a LATE build MY2015, I'd go for a MY2016...and get mbrace free for 5 years!

As for the rear trunk spoiler, I say go for it...it helps break up the Infiniti G37 look of the W205's rear end. If you order the car, it's only $350 painted & installed...with warranty!

The first year for any new car sees teething issues. I fully expect the minor issues to be resolved, which is why I am ordering a 2016.

The spoiler? No offense to anyone who has and likes it. I would not be one of them. I think the spoiler adds nothing and even detracts from the good looks of the car. If you're buying a 400+ horsepower race car, get a spoiler. Otherwise they don't do anything for the daily commuters we are. My opinion of course.
