Gas Gauge Issue (unconfirmed)

My fiancee took the car to San Diego this week and she said when she filled the tank at an indicated 14 gallons at the pump, the gauge did not show more than 4 bars full (less than half)

She restarted the car and the gauge went to full for an hour and then shot right back down to 4 bars.

Anyone heard of MB cars with digital gauges being wonky?

There is an issue sometimes with the tank not completely filling up. 14 gallons won't fill an empty tank, perhaps the pump clicked off before it was truly full.

When starting the car the gauge lights up as full and then goes back to normal level.

I suspect she looked at the gauge when starting which showed full and then went to the normal level which she didn't notice for a couple of miles.

Always go for a full tank.
