BMW e89 Z4 sDrive 35i & MB S205 C200 AMG Premium Plus
Pinch of salt time but interesting to read nonetheless.
Of all the cars I've ever owned BMW and MB have been the most problematic.
HOWEVER neither of them ever suffered an issue that left me high and dry so reliable yes, built to our expectations, perhaps not always.

An interesting observation maniac, the only car which did leave me high and dry was a b5 vw passat with ignition coil failure a problem which had plagued all vw and their variants for 18mth plus before my car was built....
Interestingly mb replaced the injectors in my 220cdi 2012 glk in 2013 indicating the 2010 problem with the then new om651 engine was not resolved. That left lots of mb owners high and dry and reports suggested mb had to stop engine production to divert the injectors being made to customers whose car was off the road.
I do think some of the complaints on this forum are bemusing but our cars are not cheap, mercedes sell on perceived quality so why should'nt owners have high expectations. But i must remind everyone they are still a mass produced product....including mass produced complex electronics is it any wonder they go wrong!
