My C250 polar white with night package arrived today... the lighting isn't the best as the sun was setting

ScubaKing Aug 21, 2015 03:12 PM

Congrats. Beautiful car and scenery.

rbrylaw Aug 21, 2015 03:25 PM

Simply BEAUTIFUL! Congratulations and I hope you drive in happiness and health!

CornishPasty Aug 21, 2015 03:44 PM

thanks folks.. it's such a beautiful car. It really doesn't feel real.. it's the first new car i've ever owned and at the age of 30 I feel quite priviledged

Vipershade Aug 21, 2015 03:49 PM

Very nice! Congratulations!

I definitely like the reflectorless front lights better than what we get in the U.S.

Huh? I don't follow you. It looks like he got the Intelligent LED Headlamps, which are an option in the US (319- Lighting Package). Or am I not understanding what you meant?

By law, our lights (U.S.) have to have a reflective portion:

Congrats, I really love how lighter shades like PW and IS accentuate the gorgeous lines.

rbrylaw Aug 21, 2015 04:18 PM

Clearly I'm missing what you're referring to (I'm sure it's likely me, not you). But in your picture of your MY16, you're not showing a picture of the Intelligent Led Lighting Package, which in the US costs an extra $800 and includes:

608 - Adaptive High Beam Assist
640 - Dynamic LED Headlamps with Active Curve Illumination

Yeah, it doesn't have anything to do with the lightning package... I am talking specifically about the orange reflector... here is another example:

Oh, I see. I'm getting the Intelligent LED Lighting package on my C300. I guess the small orange reflector doesn't bother me. I never even really noticed it. But on the upgraded lights, the orange reflector takes up less space.

Yep, agreed...

Fortunately, from the front you can't even see it (especially on the Intelligent LED package).

Never noticed that before...

Canadian cars don't have the orange reflector either. Here's a pic from the Canadian MB site.

I have notice that some of the literature (like the order guides) and even some of the website images revert back to the German site, but I think you are right...it doesn't look like you guys are stuck with that restriction.

ScubaKing Aug 21, 2015 05:04 PM

I like the look of the Canadian lights. Much cleaner than U. S.

I have a 250 bluetec diesel 4matic estate. The engine is very quiet and the 4matic system is excellent on gravel. I have mettallic paint and am intrigued by the sudden coolness of white...it does not actually work for me but i am clearly in a minority and out of tune with the fashion of the day!

You live in a lovely part of the world i have visited several times as i had a happy career with a financial service company named after your beautiful city and to drive a c class in such an environment makes you one of the very lucky people in this world, enjoy!

looks great op, congrats

jakc Aug 21, 2015 11:04 PM

Congrats! I just picked up my black with night package C300 today too! There weren't any pictures of polar white with night package so I went with black but now your pics made me regret it!

True101 Aug 22, 2015 12:09 AM

gorgeous, congrats.

jolt8631 Aug 22, 2015 11:34 AM

Well done mate - well worth the wait.

Enjoy your fantastic new car. I'll keep an eye open for you cruisin' by on you way down to the West Country.... :)

rbrylaw Aug 22, 2015 11:37 AM

@Vipershade

Ahem, now thanks to you, I can't stop noticing the orange reflectors on the side of just about every car I see on the road. I never knew it was an American requirement. I was happy in my ignorance. Now that I'm informed, a little less happy. LOL

RTX Aug 22, 2015 11:45 AM

Time to remove "On order" profile/status
Congrats, drive safe!

The car is so beautiful I am scared to face the narrow Cornish country lanes :)

Thanks everyone for the comments!

Been enjoying the car today.. it is such a masterpiece it really is and a true head turner, even in a city like Zurich where Porsches are like Golfs.

The only negative thing (and this is being very picky) that i've noticed is that upon startup while the car is turning over in park it seems to rattle slightly, as if it might stall, but maybe that is due to the engine being cold.

The other small thing is closing the doors.. it seems to be quite difficult to find the right amount of force to close the door properly without slamming it. Otherwise, it's just partially closed...

Other than that.. absolute perfection :)

Roger that brother! Just spreading the wealth :)

One of the guys posted that comment on the C63 forum, so I did a little research and figured out what they were talking about.

It does seem like the nicer the light package, the smaller the reflector (that's probably not true, but it helps offset focusing on the reflector).
