Decided to jump on the wrap bandwagon and did mine last night. I chose the 3M 1080 Matte Deep Black wrap, which I think is a bit more unusual. Think it turned out pretty good and looks way better than the piano black finish I have, which I was never a fan of to begin with...
Thanks for the great write-up. It always feels better to know the scope of the mayhem you may be inflicting on your $50k car before jumping into it...
I really love the finnish on you vinyl, i was about to use some similar, but you got i head of me.
So i had to find something different. I used a Black Metallic Brushed Aliminium and i really love it, instead of the Piano black finnish
Quick question for the experts here - I want to replace just the silver trim around the cupholders / ashtray (my current one is damaged). Based on the pictures, would I have to take off the entire center console to access that piece, or is there an easier way I'm missing?
Hi. You inspiret me so i wrap my centre console too
I agree, you must have lot of time and patiente. It takes me 9hour! But now im satisfacted.
My brother is in love and ask me for wraping his car, i say him "no ****ing way" ;D

You have to remove the entire console, but it only consists of prying off the bottom trim with the center storage bin button and then removing two torx screws.

It’s great to see all those that followed my guide or inspired them to do it from this post way back when I did mine a few years ago.
I’ve changed cars a few times since then and I decided with my current one (which had the awful piano gloss finish sadley) to get it this time hydro dipped with a carbon fibre look rather than wrap it this time, it’s permanent once it’s been dipped.Much more off a high gloss finish as it’s been lacquered to seal it ...
my only issue when the job was done was a that there was a slight wave to the pattern but the guy who did it said due to the shape hydro dipping it was awkward...personally I can live with it and it’s way nicer than the piano black..

Nice write up! I’m unable to locate the tabs inside the gap below the doors holding the silver piece with the push button. Any suggestions?
If you’re talking about the trim piece around the button to the arm rest/storage bin in the center console, you only need to pry the two short ends (on driver and passenger side) of it up and over whatever they’re seated in. This can actually be done with your bare hands.
Once the tabs are clear on both sides you have to wiggle the trim piece off as it is pretty snug around the push button (which doesn’t come off).

Thanks! Yes, it looked nice and yours is very cool too, but I’ve since pulled it off due to the bubbling in the heat. I still have enough material left to re-wrap, but need to research what I’m doing wrong that it peels/bubbles on stretched corners. I feel I need to stretch to get it clean and smooth on irregular shaped and rounded areas (like the vent “mounds”).
Perhaps I didn’t leave enough material holding the vinyl in place on the back side. Any tips and tricks from the forum appreciated.
I love the matte finish as the stock piano gloss is glary and brutally reveals any smudge or microscratch.

Thanks for they reply~ I have the new GLC350e, and there are two points that are attached below where the torx screws are. I got the silver trim piece up enough to take a peek, and whatever attached there cracked a bit already from me pulling it up. I saw that some other models those don't exist.

Ok, then yours is different. On my ‘15 C300 you just pry off the silver trim pierce and then there’s two torx screws under it that secure the main center console in place.
