Expereince Of My New C200

Thought I would put up a post on my experience of the first 600 miles in my C200 AMG Line Premium Polar White Cranberry Leather Privacy Glass.

Detailing
Day after I collected the car I had it detailed. Please do not permit your MB Dealer to do anything else but wash it. I already had paint swirls from the initial dealer wash but the Detailer, who spent total of 9 hours on my car (I know because I was with him), managed to remove them and now my car has lifetime protection to paint and 3 years on glass and interior.

Base Sound System
After reading the Burmester threads I thought I was going to be disappointed not opting for it. Well, the base sound system is not as bad as others have made out, to my ears. Good stereo separation, good volume and reasonable control over bass and treble. The vast majority of users I believe will be more than happy with it.

Sat Nav
Compared to Sat Nav in my Jag, this Garmin system is spot on and helped me by pass a major traffic hold up. Clean, clear and crisp display and directions.

Auto Box
Running smooth, no jerkiness in gear change although not fully tested in Sport or Sport+ as treating the engine gently.

The Drive
Extremely comfortable. Steering is solid and precise. Although only a 2litre 4 pot, it has coped admirably around town, country roads and on the motorway. It ain't no C63, but I more than happy with its driveability and its performance has been a pleasant surprise as I didn't expect too much from it.
Will push it more once I have 1,000 miles on the clock.

The Niggles
Remote opening works well but I have had issues with the boot. More often than it works but it can be temperamental. The Wife cant get on with it all after her first attempt to load the shopping.
Checked the oil and closed bonnet, yet system was telling me it was open when it wasn't. Warning disappeared after 3 attempts.
Under the Detailers lighting booth, you could see a minor indention on both panels on the base of the pillar at the rear of the car, just above the filler cap and same on other side. Detailer believed it was a construction issue. Took it to the Dealer and their bodywork guy, using different lighting they could not see it. In normal lighting you can't. Dealer said they can't fix what they cant see. Perhaps another reason not to use your Dealers valet services as they don't use specialist lighting to pick up imperfections. Taking this up with MB.

Summary
Love the car - love how it looks inside and out, driving it has been a pleasant surprise delivering a little more than I expected and it's 0-60mph of 6.8 secs (7.3 0-100KPH) is OK for me, quick enough from the lights, quick enough to get from traffic hold up to traffic hold up in town and quick enough when joining the motorway and once at the legal limit () holds it well.
Apart from the bodywork indention, which you can't see in normal lighting at all, I think I have a little gem of a car.

Glad you're happy. I'm getting on with mine better now but still have niggles. What are your driving habits? Journey length and type, average speeds and resultant mpg?

Driving mostly in Comfort, of the 600 miles 220 motorway, 200 A/B roads, 180 in town or local. Keep to 70ish on M/Way, 50/60 on A/B roads, local lucky if you get above 30. Current average is 40.7mpg, which I am more than happy with. Never drove in Eco, save that for my final journey in a hearse.
Limited experience of Sport+ but impression is that really holds on to low gears longer than I would if I had a manual, better suited to a high revving engine like the V Tech found in a R Type.

Congratz on your new car! I agree with the standard sound system. If you read the forum you'll think its awefull. I think its pretty good considering its the base sound system. Its much better then BMW base, and even their next level up. (Although they have like 4 levels).
