Here is a fun question (maybe not if your car is disabled), would one be able to leave the car in neutral and the passenger door opened? This is required if the car is disabled in the middle of the road, you're alone and want to push the car to the side.

 

I think you can, you can shift to neutral with the door open as long as the engine is off. Something to try later today.

 

With my A-class i come home, put car in park, turn car of and parking brake engages.
Should be the same on the C-class.

 

The car will eventually turn off before the battery dies

 

My GLC does the same thing.
