Hi all, I am kind of illiterate when it comes to this stuff, but I'm fairly certain my front tires on my 2015 C300 are already in need of replacing with just a tick over 5,000 miles on the car. I don't understand how this can already be the case, and perhaps I'm wrong, but with winter approaching I want to make sure this isn't a problem. I've attached some pictures of the front tires
yes, I replaced mine at around 5k miles. OEM RF's wear like butter, I have conti-sport summer tires, much better less noisy and better for enthusiastic drivers like us. Some people may get longer wear, because they drive conservative.

Thanks for the reply. That is very sad news to hear as I imagine a tire should last 25-30k miles. I drive pretty conservatively, so I don't think I should be wearing down this fast.
Hopefully the dealer will be able to take care of this.

I believe you're on your own on tires unless you bought some sort of tire replacement package on your purchase. I can tell you these tires are not cheap. I replaced one due to a nail and cost me $441.00 through MB.

next time when you get your new tire, just go to discount tire and buy the certificate. That way when you get a nail or bubble, it gets replaced for free.
you can buy certificates from discount even if you didnt buy the tire from them as long as the tread is over 7/32nd I believe. (as long as they carry that tire).
In your first photo, the Tread Wear Indicator (TWI) is clearly visible, and you are not really very close to it. The tire is road legal until the tread is flush with that little bump.
Thats the problem with these cars 5,000 miles on OEM RF tires is unacceptable.
Think about it. On a three year lease on allotted 10K miles a year. You would have to replace the tires six times. That’s crazy at $400.00 a pop! Nearly $10K in tires over a three year period seems ridiculous!
OEM run flats should last way more than 5,000 miles. Should be 10,000 minimum. The Bridgestone RFTs on my 335D lasted 15,000 miles on the rear and longer on the front.
What tyres are fitted to your C300 Nbar1 ? OEM in UK are Pirelli and Continental.
Here's pic of my C300 tyres (diesel & rear wheel drive) after 6,600 miles - I expect them to last to 10,000 maybe more on the fronts.
To those who asked, the tires on the car are Continental all season RF's that came on the car. There is currently 5340 miles on the tires.
I have a service appointment scheduled for tomorrow at 11am, and both my salesperson and the service department made it sound like this should not be happening. I will update tomorrow after I find out what comes of it.
Just to update here, there is a recall on the exact tires that were on my car. It is specifically for the two front tires on a 2015 C300 (I will update with exact model number of the tires once I get out of the dealer, but they are the Continental all season RFs). This recall was just posted on October 8th, 2015, and MB is replacing them for free.
A little background information on that Continental tire recall...
"Continental Tire the Americas is recalling potentially 5,993 ProContact GX SSR MOE affected tires because they may have been deformed during the curing process.
The affected tires are size 225/45R18 95H XL, and were manufactured from June 22 - 28, 2014. The tires were used for front axle fitment on 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class vehicles.
According to the NHTSA, a tire that was deformed during the curing process may suddenly fail during use, increasing the risk of a crash. It could also cause the tire tread to appear distorted when inflated."

I believe that tire recall is from October 10, 2014. If its the same one that nbar's dealer is referring to, then car should never have been sold in that condition.
nbar can you check the week of manufacturer on the sidewall and see if it corresponds to the date range covered in the 2014 recall (previous post). Its great that you are having them replaced but if your tires are affected by the original 2014 recall, they should have been replaced prior to sale - its more than just a wear issue, it's a safety issue
I have a 2015 C350 coupe 4matik that came with conti tires, they have been fine so far but, as I am picky about handling, I always replace my tires at +- 20-25000 miles, since the specs of most tires go south after that point. I used to buy only Michelin BUT lately Mich tires have a BIG problem with dryrot!!! My wife has a Lincoln LS sport with Michelins and my neighbor has a Town car with Michelins ALL dryrot, so if anyone out there decides to go with Michelins, better
deal with the dryrot problem up front with your dealer....who will, no doubt, give you a "mystified" look when this is mentioned so again, be careful.
