A few issues with my 3 day old car

fellas, i just got my 2015 C300 on MOnday. overall, it's awesome, and i love it. it does have a few issues, and im wondering if anyone has them?

1. (this may not be an issue at all, but how it's programmed) no matter what driving mode the vehicle is in when i turn it off, it always starts in comfort. that normal?

2. the bluetooth is not impressing. i paired my phone, its a trusted device, and yet the display will sometimes fail to display the track and artist info, even if its playing the music just fine. other times it wont auto pair upon entry, i have to click the "pair last connected device" option. and then other times it will auto pair upon entry. but the track and artist name not being displayed seems par for the course, think thats happened 9 out of 10 times ive gotten in. i have to power off the system and power it back on to get it to display properly.

3. what exactly does the driver assistance graphic do? i dont have the driver assistance pkg, so no distronic, etc. i thought it might display the distance to the car in front of me, but nope. is it more to warn you if youre going out of your lane?

4. regarding the fuel economy screen which shows 2 bars, one of which says "charge" that fills up as you lift off the gas. as i understand it, the engine decouples from the tranny when u coast so as to decrease friction and increase efficiency. is there some type of capacitive charger that charges when u lift off the gas? what exactly is being "charged?"

I believe it has to do with the alternator. When you coast it increases drag and charges the battery allowing the start stop system to operate efficiently.

I got one - turns out the door lock button on the door handles doesn't work with gloves. WTF?

Seems like pretty basic functionality. Now when it is -20 I'm going to either have to fish through my pocket or take my gloves off and grab a snow covered handle.

Dumb.

It may depend upon the gloves you are wearing. I opened my W212 this morning while wearing gloves, no problem. The gloves are just NorthFace cloth gloves, though, not mammoth ski muffins.

The car goes back to comfort mode if it is left for 4 hours.

Opening I have no problem. It's locking. And I just have pretty thin leather gloves with a bit of cashmere lining. Problem is the ridiculous sensor approach doesn't seem to register pressure and can't pick up the leather. My wife's infiniti has a button and my old BMW had a bumpy raised panel on the top of the handle, and each of them have the slightest issue with any gloves. Did Mercedes not realize that sometimes people wear gloves when it is cold out?

Oh, I'm also finding it sometimes doesn't work when it rains, cause, you know, water on the outside of a car isn't really a common occurrence...

mvw - I haven't checked locking with gloves on. I will try to remember to do so.

One question, though -- Do you have Keyless-Go? The locking and unlocking hardware and software may be different between cars with and without it. I do have the Keyless Go option, so I do not need to press a button to lock my car. I simply wave my hand across the outside surface of the door handle and it locks.

Keyless access uses inductive sensors, not pressure.

Canada too, from what I've seen.

I was told by two dealers it's 4 hours (or so) here in the USA as well. Surely someone who has the car can confirm?

Many in the US have confirmed this in multiple threads. Once the car is turned off, when it's restarted in the US it always reverts to comfort.

Many in the US have confirmed this in multiple threads. Once the car is turned off, when it's restarted even moments later it always reverts to comfort.

C Class 200 sport petrol auto
This from the UK manual
If the ignition is switched off for less than four hours, the previously selected drive program is activated when the engine is next started. If the ignition is switched off for more than four hours, drive program C is activated when the engine is next started.
Just needs the software tweaked. No doubt if the MB mechanic plugs his laptop into the car there will be a drop down menu for this seeing that different countries have different settings.

ok so tried again last night and seem to have gotten a handle on it. Might have been a bit dirty, and I'm also trying to make sure never to grab the handle at the same time, which is sort of natural with the sensor right on the side of the handle. Seems to work most of the time now, but we'll see how it holds up when handle is partially covered with snow.

Manual here says so too, but they may have overridden it in North America (maybe for emissions testing reporting or something)

No may have overridden it in North America, they did override it. In Europe, the car keeps settings for 4 hours. In America, a soon as you turn the car off and then restart, the default is ALWAYS going to be comfort. And there is no hack available to us to change that.

So we just have to learn to select the agility setting we want on startup. Just like we have to turn off Eco Start each time, if we don't want it.
