C450 vs E400 couoe

Unfortunately the current E class (including the coupe) feels outdated compared to the C, CLA, CLS, S class. You will have the best car but it won't look like you are driving a new car and selling it later will take a big hit, you will comparing values with cars that look the same from 2013. In the end it is up to you, what you like. I usually wait 1 year before buying a new model, but always opted for the new model.

I had that identical decision to make. Almost the same price since the E was being discounted more than the C. The E coupe is beautiful but it's only got a year left before the new model and the interior of the C is much nicer IMO. I also didn't like the sport seats in the E and the C was much more responsive. The C450 AMG put a smile on my face when my drive was over but the E400 didn't. When I realized that, I knew the decision was made.

Since you already have a W205, you might wanna consider the E400.
One downside of the way the MB scale their cars is that the E-Class interior essentially looks just like a larger C-Class. So, if you're upgrading from a W204 to a W212, you can end up pretty underwhelmed because it looks and feels too similar. That makes the W205 so much more desirable if you're a W204 or W212 owner. You get that novelty factor. That novelty made a big difference in my choice between a W205 and W212 last month.
But if you've never owned a W204, the W212 is, I think, a better proposition. The interior's still gorgeous and the W212 platform is incredibly well-refined. It's a classic design. In fact, you might find yourself underwhelmed by the W213 if you wait for it, precisely because it'll probably also end up looking like a scaled-up version of your C250.
