The only thing I regret about not getting COMAND is the bigger higher res full glass screen, voice command, and the hp/torque screen (which is not real-time from what I heard but it looks cool nonetheless)
As for the DVD function, I've had the capabilities of watching DVDs in 3/4 of my previous cars and I think I've only used it for 15min max. However, if CarPlay is released and we can stream NFLX, then that is a whole different story.
I also ordered the rearview cam separate so I did not miss that option from not ordering COMAND
