Inadequate Lumbar Support?
While I drive around 12-15 km/day, I started recently to develop a lower back pain, especially when stuck in traffic - Daily commute is around 6 km (one way) ,but it takes 20 to 40 minutes depending on traffic.
Of course, I go to the office and sit for the entire day either at my desk or in meeting rooms. I try to do all the general recommended stretching ,walking,...
Also started to exercise (with a "pro" personal trainer 3 times a week), but that hasn't helped much.
Can someone recommend a good support pillow (or whatever these things are called)? Something that would fit nicely in the car (I've got the artico seats if that matters).
Thank you

Lumbar pain is really tricky to run down. Once the lumbo sacral joints are inflamed, pretty much any sort of normal daily activity can re aggravate them. If the pain is centered over the dimples on your low back over your kidneys, that's likely LS joint pain versus sore muscles or inadequate lumbar support.
Your MD or Ortho can do a steroid injection that might calm the joint tissue down enough to let it heal. To see if more lumbar support helps, roll a towel up and position it where you think you want more support. I've found that changing cars can cause a flare up. The back muscles set themselves up for the seat of the old car, and they need time to readjust in the new one. If you're constantly chasing the pain by reconfiguring the seat back, they'll never settle down.
Try taking all of the lumbar support out of the seat back and leave it that way for a week. See if that aggravates or improves the LS pain. Take an anti inflammatory over the counter product to help with the pain and inflammation. Use ice rather than heat on the joints.
It sucks. I've been there and it ruins the experience of the new car. Good luck!!

The lumbar support on the driver seat is really really good. You could use just about any support pillow like this or many others: http://s7d2.scene7.com/is/image/JCPe...id=375&hei=375
