Your car has a sophisticated computer that monitors important things like oil viscosity, levels, etc., and the first service can certainly come up earlier than 10K miles or 12 months. Do what your car is suggesting and schedule the first service.

Many models produced from 2007 have fixed service intervals. Services alternate from A to B and occur every 15,500 miles or after one year, whichever comes sooner. These fixed service intervals make it easier for you to plan your servicing around your schedule, making it less likely for you to miss a service.

Yeah, that's all fine, but my 2015 E400 4Matic is calling for service A in about 130 days. That will put it at around the first week of May, BUT the in-service date for the car is mid-August, so it is calling for service in only 8 1/2 months, when it will have about 7,000 miles on the clock. I asked my service department why they didn't reset the reminder at delivery and was told (in writing) that with newer cars the reminders are initially set at build date and are not adjustable by the dealer at delivery.
They are recommending that I just wait for 1 year or 10K miles. For me, since this will be the first service on a new engine, I am more inclined to just do it early. With all of my other cars that used dino-oil, I always did a first oil change at 500 miles, then at every 3K miles thereafter.
My theory is that "Oil is cheaper than engines."

Of course the service indicator might not have been reset when the car was originally handed over by the dealer and is showing 12 months from date of manufacture. There is some flexibility in that date so waiting a month would do no harm.

The right call is probably to have it set at factory and NOT at delivery. The oil is filled at the factory, so the time portion of the interval should start then. From factory to delivery it is actually the worst types of trip for the oil. Driven out of the factory to the lot. Driven on the Carrier. Driven off the carrier. Moved around the dealers lot a few times. Maybe in and out of the showroom. Probably a dozen or more start stop cycles with practically no miles allowing the oil to warm up to temp and burn off the condensation that degrades the additives.
However, I do agree that another month isn't going to make a big difference and will also note that modern are much less susceptible to breakdown than previous types.
