i finally test drove a C450 today (i ordered a C43 coupe, but test drove the sedan).
compared to the 4 cylinders in my bmw, my god, this car is so much more composed. it sounds luxury. and unless 4 years have done that much damage to my F30, it feels like the car just doesnt let in as much wind noise . only took it up to about70mph in sport + on a side road near the dealership.... but it feels much more solid and german.
had a B8 a4 previous to my F30 bmw. and the B8 felt as buttoned down, but the C450 felt al ot more neutral and balanced. and both the a4 and c450 felt a lot more "german" as far as that whole bank vault feel.

My quote here in Melbourne from the ordering guide including all dealer charges & taxes was $120k negotiated down to $115k, so discounting appears similar.

It's insane. In 2005 Pontiac essentially imported whole the top end Holden Monaro with a 400 hp LS2 Vette engine and sold it as the GTO for $31k. Same car in Australia, where it was built, was over $60k. I paid $28k for mine. Unbelievable car for the money.

I expect it to be A$1k for me, which includes a maximum no-claim bonus & 20% loyalty & multiple policies discounts.

to be fair due to the collapse in commodity prices like copper, i think the aussie dollar is only like .7 american. still a lot though but it was at parity 4-5 years back

bmw has gone way too cheap to make extra $. the interior now is no where near the B9 a4 or the w205. and the mexican built G series 3 series i'm guessing is yet another way for them to maximize profit and do nothing to make the car better.

Perhaps someone in North America can enlighten me. I'e seen a couple of comments whereby discount off of a new C43 varies (duh.....obviously). Mercedes dealer invoices versus MSRP is just about 7.0 % looking at current rates last year and this year. . How close has anyone got to this (excluding other type of discounts - such as company, fleet etc)? I'm sure since its new - dealers are looking to keep it as close as possible to MSRP....but not the way I want to approach it.

Thanks. I had you in mind having previously seen your 10%!. I wish I was that lucky. Curious to see what others who are not as fortunate as you think. Appreciate the feedback.

C43 I could have gotten 10% off if I wanted to order one. However, I am leasing, and C450 has an awesome money factor right now, along with $1800 extra (from Benz) which is about $50/month just in that.
So the difference in a guestimate of a lease was like $200 a month difference going off standard MF for c43, no $1800 cash back, and a lower residual just because it says AMG.
