bike rack.....
Traded my (13) ML350 for a (15) C 300 this weekend. Very happy with the car but it has only been three days. I am a avid bicyclist and need to haul two bikes. The dealership recommended a roof rack, I would prefer a rack mounted on trailer hitch. So far my internet search has turned up NOTHING for the C 300. I would even consider just getting a Class II hitch installed. There are some great trunk mounted bike racks, my concern with them is that they will dent or scratch the car.
Thanks, any help is appreciated.

Hi,
I have the same challenge, but I think I don't understand your message. Are you looking for the hitch itself or a proper rack? Have you seen https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ler-hitch.html ?
Assuming you're looking ro a hitch
- Option 550 (expensive)
- Towbar: https://brink.eu/en-gb/

I can't speak to the trunk or hitch racks but if those don't pan out, I wouldn't be too quick to rule out the roof rack. I used the MB OEM racks on my W211 for years and was extremely happy with the fit, usability and easy on/off. Admittedly, it helps to be a bit on the tall side for roof racks but having recently moved from the W211 to W205, I will soon be purchasing the new racks to fit. Fortunately, I'll still be able to use the bike attachments but the width of the car is different from the W211, thus necessitating the replacement of the base racks.

Good luck. I'm still waiting for a receiver but the seasucker, I posted in the Trailer Hitch thread, works great for now. It only takes a few minutes to setup and is surprisingly strong. Even at highway speeds I haven't noticed any movement from it. I do get rings on the glass where it was suction cups are mounted but after some soap and water it goes away. I would still prefer to use my receiver mounted 1up rack, but this is a good alternative for now that I don't have to leave on the car. As these cars get more popular I would assume someone will eventually make a receiver.

2016 GL350BT, Cdn AMG pkg, 798 wheels
trailer hitch bike rack OEM
Anyone in the US or Canada have this version - part A0008900400?
Searching the net, it appears to be only in Europe, but it seems genuinely MB ... and I would like to keep the total height of my GL now and do not want to raise it any higher than it already is.

I'm still using the seasucker with the option for 1 bike but they have larger mounts that hold multiple bikes. For now it works great. No permanent fixture to my roof and fairly easy to setup/take off. Since I have the pano roof and I can stick it to the rear glass and rear window to avoid any possible issues with the paint.

I think it depends on what you want out of a roof rack. I assume of the roof racks that bolt on, the MB may be your best option. Then you can decide on if you want the MB carrier to match or get one of the other options. I think the ones that don't require you to remove the front wheel are much easier. The Seasucker requires you to remove the wheel and while it doesn't take too much longer, I hate having to do it every time.
I have a second bike but no way of transporting both right now.

The correct answer is to always keep the bikes in the car... duh.. ![Stick Out Tongue](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Suggest get the sea sucker 3 bike rack... even better on pano roof as it doesn't touch the paint.. and whips off super easy so no penalty fuel consumption wise or spanners to remove the roof rails when not in use..

I crapped myself the first time too.. I had 2 LOOK 695's and a 595 up on one.. $35k... i closed the pano sun shade cos i dodn't want to see them there and think about them
For occasional use they are really felxible.. ie easy to use..
If i was tranporting bikes every weekend up there i'd get the Whisbar bars and likely the thule carriers.. then just whip off the carriers and leave the whisbar low profile bars in between..

Pretty much the same. I have used it for several longer trips (4+ hours) and have been solid the entire time. At first time I pulled over every couple of hours to check the pressure but never any problems. I've used them in the heat and cold without any problems. I keep a small spray bottle of water and a rag to clean the glass before I put them on, but that's probably not necessary every time.
Also where I put it on the rear window the pedals can touch the car, if rotated, so I use gear ties to keep the crank/pedals in place.

Also I contacted Curt and Uhaul to see if they have plans to make a receiver for our cars, but nothing is currently in the works. If anyone is in AZ they can drop their car at the Uhaul design facility and they will create and install for free or it would cost $1,000 for a custom one to be built. If I were closer I would consider it.
