Centre console backlighting

Does anyone else find the backlighting behind the aluminium centre console switch controls for the heater, A/C, rear demists etc..too dim ? In darkness I can barely make out which switch is which , but the dashboard lights are blinding. If I dim the dash lights, the backlighting to these switches is virtually off with the exception of the passenger airbag indicator, which is the ideal brightness for all of them. Is this the norm or have I got blown LED's behind ?

What you describe is similar to my car, so unless it's a selective fault this is the norm.

I found myself noticing the same thing just a few days ago, although I find that especially the the Nav screen does not turn down enough when driving on dark and unlit countryside roads. Fortunately I have most of the controls memorised.

I just picked up my new GL with same issue. Just use the small knob below the speedometer to adjust. It might be set dimly at the factory.

The sat nav screen can be dimmed independently of the dashboard.
Vehicle settings-System-Display. I've just sussed that out after nearly a year
