Command Video player
spent some time yesterday messing around with the Video player function of Command.
final results:
Movie DVD = works fine
Audio DVD = works fine
USB MP4 video files = only plays audio, detects it as mp3. Audio quality is much better than CD.
Memory card MP4 files = same as above
Iphone 6 plus videos over USB = doesn't work
Video CD = i haven't tried
DVD with MP4 files (such as music videos) = only plays audio.
now, i learned this via true TRIAL and ERROR (spent like 3 hours):
To make MP4 music videos playable:
grab your MP4 files and burn into a "DVD-VIDEO" using authoring software. basically you have to make it playable on any SET-TOP box. by set-top box, i'm talking about the most conventional set top boxes.
So the DVD gotta have chapters, etc.
if you just burn it as a regular file DVD (as in drag and dropping the MP4 files) only AUDIO will work, not video.
i used NERO VIDEO. keep in mind that NERO BURNING ROM will make it a regular DVD with MP4 files, so only audio will play. you need to use DVD editing/authoring software to prepare the files.
so currently i got a DVD in the cd slot with music videos for when i'm parked and bored to death.
Command hard drive is about half filled with MP3s.
and i use spotify from my iphone via bluetooth.
i'm good to go now.

it's been a decade since the last time i burned a DVD.
first i drag and drop it and burned a DVD in like 5 minutes. that failed, the command dvd player was recognizing it as a mp3.
then i did my research and did it the proper DVD-Video way.
now i do have a monster gaming PC with multiple SSDs, and even so it took nearly 40 minutes to complete. now it works fine.
it was like i was re-learning everything again.

I thought the w205 COMAND is meant to be able to play various formats of video files on USB?
"MPEG, WMV, MOV, AVI, MP4" per http://moba.i.daimler.com/baix/cars/...er_09_85.shtml

I have a few suggestions and will probably try this on my non-COMAND system when I get home because I had a similar problem when trying to play .MP4 files
1) Change the file names of all your .MP4 files to .M4V (or .m4v).
According to the COMAND manual, .mp4 files are treated as AAC file types (meaning they are treated as audio files by COMAND, hence why it may only be playing the audio part).
2) If that doesn't work, try putting the .m4v files (and even .mp4 videos as a test) in a directory called "Video" (but without the quotes). The COMAND manual states that after 64GB of memory is used on a medium then only folders with names "Music", "Pictures" and "Video" is supported.

I have a 128GB SD card and a USB thumb drive filled with mp4 music videos, and they play just fine. Why would you burn them to a DVD. Just make sure they are 720p. There are several threads that discuss this.

IT depends on ur budget
if u have enough money to spare yes u can change the all the console compartment. Its around 2-3000€. Also its not so much necesary cos u cant play it while driving. Maybe is better to buy a mp4 player they are cheap
