Music over Bluetooth?

Just ordered a C450 with Premium package and I'm wondering if we can play music through Bluetooth (spotify, etc)? On my previous BMW iDrive was required, but my IS350 does it perfectly without any special "add-on"...

AUX is so 2010...

It will work flawlessly. Still have issues with compression but that's a Bluetooth flaw not a problem with the implementation.

I have no problems what so ever in my A-class (audio 20). Works really good.

It works and sounds great, but...

it's a tad cumbersome to setup and seemingly has to be reset sometimes..
one has to setup the phone with the car via bluetooth protocol, that would be necessary for calls mostly - maybe the text messaging integration.

then, one ALSO has to setup the phone as a bluetooth audio device in the MEDIA section. It won't stream audio from the phone without it. THIS is the one that I find has to be reselected sometimes, not really sure why.

So, I would have thought in this day and age that once one paired a phone, it paired for essentially all functions easily, or at least prompted to pair with all functions but one has to dig around and do it specifically.

I think if there is more than one phone in the bluetooth list, and also paired for bluetooth audio (different list) that is why in our case it might need a little extra help..

My wife has her phone linked as well. It can go bonkers when we are both in the car but then its just a matter of choosing phone. I would say that pretty normal and not much the system can do anything about.

Because it gives you the extra functionality of being able to pair one phone for voice calls and another phone simultaneously for media playback. That way your phone can be selected to take calls and your wife's phone can stream the music if you so choose. This necessitates selecting a device for phone and for media even if it's the same device in your case.

The logic makes sense. The implementation isn't very intuitive though. The location for switching one Bluetooth media source to another is hard to find. I intuitively look in sources but its not there. It's buried a layer or two deep in Bluetooth options I think. Hard to learn and remember while driving. At least now the top level button is labeled media. In our 2015 GL the Bluetooth connection options are under disk.

Would be so much simpler if they just put a phone icon on the screen with the name of the device connected, and a music icon on the screen with the name of the connected device next to it. Then click on the icon and select device from list. Even easier if it were a simple touch screen instead of the wheel. Ah, someday.
