C300 Designed Boost Leak - $5 MOD
.
He claims increased throttle response and power ( a $5 dollar MOD).
..
Has anyone tried this?? Your Thoughts. Anyone measured the the amount of loss. Why would MB do this?

Or possibly detune for future MY change hp increase. Regardless -- someone will certainly be checking this out -- Like a reply from BMS (Terry) would be interesting.

I would say that you have had few responses simply because nobody has a definite answer. I doubt there are any automotive engineers on this board, so you are simply asking for speculation. People have posted some objections or concerns and you have responded... What else are you expecting?
Then I switched to BMW -- not quite as useful from a technical stand point but substantial . Both VW & BMW more of a tuning community with DIY guides and technical advice that were worthy of publish.
Here - it is more of who's got the newest and best model. Not so much a technical crowd.
Is it not ok that I go elsewhere to find credible data like the N54tech forum -- that yes support Mercedes tuning?
Just a different crowd.

Much larger crowd on the VW site. I suppose the Toyota camry site generates quicker responses too. Gee, wonder why that is?
The only forums worth something around here are the AMG forum.. only typically E55 W211, C32, C55 and C63 and new W212 platform
I read the C205 post cuz my wife's car a decent car and would like to see simple intake mods (like the one posted) or simple exhaust mods. But the reaction to anything modded is typically negative.
To the poster: Just data log and see if you boost increases pre and post. Check your IAT's and if you can your timing degrees. Hope to see more people like you.
What the youtube vid poster was feeling, is probably a small boost spike caused by the plugged vent line on the charge pipe, due to the missing "Calculated Boost loss" that the DME is expecting. The pic is from my 17' C300 sedan (Canadian ver.). Since the boost pressure sensor is after the charge cooler and this is a hardware mod (existing hard part modification, no software or sensor trickery), the DME would most likely correct the running parameters accordingly. Or get all huffy and throw a CELL/LIMP MODE if the spike is big enough or causes other "out of normal operation" parameter adjustments to be required by the DME. Keep in mind that control unit EEPROM data is how TAS (MB technical support/Warranty ****'s) determine if the vehicle has been run outside of the design parameters. Hence how MB can detect whether a vehicle is currently or has ever been run with modifications even if the DME has been aftermarket flashed back to factory or had the faults cleared.
