Command Screen Won't Turn On
Hey everyone, got into my car this morning and the Command screen is just black. Tried turning the car off and on again and nothing.
Anyone have an idea why or what I can do? Thanks.

The screen actually came on after the car sat for a while and I started it again. Hopefully it's just a one-off. It was terrible commuting to work in the morning with no music/climate control. If it happens again, I will try this eject button trick!

I'm waiting to see if it comes on.
Has yours occurred again and what has the dealer said?

Mine did this once, came on after a while, and never did it again.
The other day, I had no sound on the system after a minute or so. It started fine, then the sound would mute as soon as my iPhone was detected. I rebooted the system a few times with the CD eject button, but the same thing kept happening. Finally, I just hit my iPhone home button to take it out of sleep mode and the sound came right on. It's never done it again.
Next time I have the car in for service, I'll have them check for error codes, but my guess is that no codes were thrown.
The COMAND system will, every once in a while, just misfire for no apparent reason. Seems like a beta version to me.

"That's what they all do" - not!
Don't let your dealer tell you "they all do it." I agree that computer systems in general to do it. However, not all of individual installations do it. My COMAND system (build date 12/23/15) has not done it (yet) in 17 months of use. "That's what they all do" has long been an auto dealer excuse, merely aggravated by their ability to hide behind computers.

Mine did it and that last update MB did - I think that was March 2018 - Seems to solve the problem. The update was for the Stereo. I think others have had their stereo replaced under warranty.

My 2016 had this issue. The dealer flashed my Command with a new version (that also has a digital clock) and that seems to solve the issue. Dealer told me there is something in the older software that reports a false short and shuts down Command.

Being a 2021 model, you may have accidentally turned off the display but not the system. This is a new option with the MBUX system's power button. Pressing an holding the volume button down will bring up both "System Off" and "Display Off" options, where the latter allows audio play but the screen is powered off.
