2017 W205 - C Class

Some details are emerging for the MY2017 C Class. It appears the headlights are getting an update. No information yet on engines or interior updates.

why do the headlights have the twin light tube like the e-class, the whole point of the e-class having that is to be a nod to the old e-class' that had 4 headlights. I don't like that look at all. doesn't look that mean

I actually like the new headlights. From the pictures it looks like they're taped on! They drove it out on the road without bothering to disguise the new look, I bet they wanted to see what reaction it will get. They are probably reading this forum!

The new chrome accents on the side of the car and on the front lower bumper, I'm not liking that.

No difference I can see other than headlights. Might finally see the integrated screen but as I'm likely going back to Bmw it's not going to matter to me. Fed up with the poor drivetrain no matter how pretty the car looks.

Not a fan of the headlights, prefer the 2016 version.

Integrated screen would be nice, but given the C43 Coupe that's already been revealed without it, that's doubtful.

Wait so the 2017 C class won't be released until mid-2017? or are they referring to the 2018 C class? I would think that the 2017 would be released in the latter half of 2016.

2018 model year. They said "to appear in 2017" not for model year 2017.
2018 makes sense for a mid model refresh.

EDIT: Should add my info is not based upon any facts I have, but there is no way it would make sense for 2016 model run to go ANOTHER 15 months from now,

But they're not...this is the same 6-7 year major change, 3 year refresh cycle that they and everyone else has always used...

No idea if this spy pic has the final version of the interior, but from this pic from the back you can see that it still has a non-integrated "floating" screen from the passenger window. This comports with the earlier spy shot of the interior too, which had a separate screen with a digital instrument gauge.

I agree. Those headlights look like cheap crap.

I think I'm one of the few that actually likes the minimalist free-floating screen in the W205...very modern IMO.

All I know is if I were to be in the market for another C300 or better someday and it doesn't have the 9G transmission, I'll be buying some other brand.

The 2017 model run for at least some of the C's starts after this August, so it's unlikely this will be ready by then. So I agree more likely 18.

Wouldn't surprise me at all to see the C Class with updated headlights/headlight graphics, those are grafted on from the new E Class so I doubt those are the actual lights. I'm very interested in these rumored exterior front and rear bumper designs they talk about. Many articles are saying in these spy pictures the front bumper looks different but I compared it to the base C class and it is exactly the same.

Yup .. with sticky tape to boot
They are the new multi-beam units which were talked about being in development even when the W205 came out. I hope they're not going to fit the exact same lights as on the E - the two cars are way too similar as it is.

What's the difference with 'the new multi beam' units and the multi beam ils units I have now?

AFAIK our ILS multi beam are comprised of two light modules with tilt shift lenses. The new multi beam uses an LED matrix which can switch off pixels of light to create far more detailed black areas.

Not to the same extent. Our are equipped with twelve LEDs. In its basic function, the headlamp is run by eight LEDs. The residual four LEDs of this module support the second projector module in generating the high beam.
The new multi beam ones have 84 led matrix.

It's just like HD-TV

yeah, there is no way this appears before late 2017 or 2018 most likely... The 17 model run starts up in August or so. As far as the trim, the little chrome trim on the bumper looks a little odd/retro..
