Diamond Grill

I have bought the Diamond grill from Muscle Leopard off eBay but couldn't bring myself to have it installed so it's sat in my garage for a month collecting dust.

I managed to get a quote from my dealer for a OEM Diamond Grill. Parts Interpreter advised that the C450 won't fit my C250 and requires additional parts. Was a a bit shocked at the price but I've decided to go ahead with it. It gives me piece of mind knowing that it's an OEM part, delivered by a dealer and both the part and install are covered by warranty.

I've attached the quote with the part numbers in case others are interested. Pricing is in AUD and parts have to come from Germany.

Wow, that's a lot of money for that plastic parts list. Too bad you can't swap these parts at vehicle ordering without changing models.

I paid $155 for my diamond grill and it looks as good as any. I don't know why it has to be OEM. It's not a moving part, or functional part. So what's the warranty for? :-) But it's your money and this is just my personal opinion.

This.

Plus how much are they charging you to install it? It took me and friend about 3 hours to install the diamond grill on my car.

Yeah, installation is a b*tch. Took me 3 hours to install it too, but it was well worth it. Made the car look a lot better, IMO.

So just paid for the grill. All parts are in the country except one. It comes in four separate pieces as opposed to the non OEM part.

Service and spare parts said I'm the first customer in Australia to do this. The C450 isn't released here yet.

And if you change your grill to diamond grill you should also change the rear exhaust tips from the c450

Yeah, I agree, all the "non moving" parts should also be made by Chinese replicators, body panels, windows, trim parts, interior and so on, the entire car would be way cheaper and no one could ever tell the difference.

You clearly misread my post. The cheap Chinese knockoff comes as one part (and also has less rows than the OEM version). The original C450 part comes in quarters hence the extra parts required.

O.k but the chinese knockoff is a very good replika
And believe me nobody cares and see the minor difference
Between the two grills only if you put tham together you can
Se the difference.

What you choose to do to your pride and joy is your choice.

I care more about what I think of my vehicle than others. For that reason I choose the OEM grille.

It will be interesting to see how the Chinese replica wears over a few years...

doesn't matter who make them. What matters is I think it makes the car look great.

For arguments sake, if it fades or cracks, or whatever... you can swap it out every year for around 8 years for the price of an OEM one.

So got my grill fitted today by the dealer, AUD $390 for the install. I absolutely love it.

The spare parts and service guys thought it was very cool as they had never done it before and they actually emailed me these photos as soon as it was done before I went to pick it up!
