Factory build order question
So for all of you out there that ordered a custom build, did your dealer give you anything in writing and require a deposit for the car?
I am working with a dealer who traded for an allocation of a color no longer available and then built it to my specs but I am having an impossible time nailing him down to get something in writing stating it is my car to purchase at the agreed upon price including all available incentives.
Hoping someone can shed light on the ordering process and what I should expect to receive to rest assured that it won't get sold from underneath me.
Thanks!

Put a couple grand down and the car is yours. Get the trade appraised and put a hard number on it as well. Final sale will be subject to whatever incentives are in force at the time of the sale. I basically made the offer to the dealer, with my wholesale number on the trade and 10% off MSRP on the build. Only gray area was residual and MF on the lease, which is set by MBFS and updated monthly. In my case the residual was more favorable when the car delivered.

That's the problem. We negotiated a deal with no trade in on a purchase (not lease) of a C450 build that comes to $63,500 MSRP. After discount and Fleet incentives the price is $53k (16.5% discount). I want to give him a deposit but he keeps saying it isn't necessary. Without it I'm afraid he can sell it to a higher bidder. To top it off the dealer is out of state.
Did you get something in writing with the build I'd or something? Anything to indicate the build is yours? Do I go to the GM and insist on giving a deposit?

I didn't have anything in writing other than I was sent a PDF of the build that I had to approve. They already had my deposit from another deal. Do like I did and load the thing up so much they're terrified of getting stuck with it.
I'd shoot the GM an email confirming the deal and if he's unwilling to take a deposit just find another dealer who will. I bought my car 5 hours away because my local dealer pissed me off.
