Different size side mirrors housing?

Is it me or the driver side mirror/housing is bigger than the passenger side? I noticed that when the car is locked and the side mirrors folded in, the driver side mirror does not fold in as far as the passenger side. Maybe because it is bigger ? At least that is what I noticed on the C450.

Yes, they're different sizes. I guess the Germans feel you need a bigger mirror on the driver's side. Why they don't fit the bigger mirror both sides (which they must have stock for given other-side hand drive cars), I don't know. Would make things a little cheaper only having to produce fewer designs.

But my biggest bug-bear is only the driver's side dims. Having dimming driver mirror and interior mirror but non-dimming passenger mirror is stupid on motorways.

Drivers side always bigger due to variety of antennas.

So can you guys confirm that the driver side mirror don't fold in as far as the passenger side so I know nothing is wrong with mine? On the passenger side, the mirror itself is almost parallel to the passenger window but on the driver side, the mirror has a larger separation angle to the window.

Correct. They fold slightly differently. Here's a shot of mine from above. I'm UK so the right hand side is my driver's mirror not folded quite as much.
