Watch out dont break your Gas Tank knob Holder
Hello mates -
Earlier i was filling my tank. As soon as I started twisting the knob, this thing breaks. They are cheaply made
I went straight to the dealership to get it fixed. They had to order the whole unit to get it replaced. It will arrive next week at the dealership and I should have it installed in less than 5 minutes per the service manager. Still covered under warranty.
Don't break yours...

It happened to a previous Mazda 6 I had....if you don't have warranty you can buy an original filler cap with tether/strap for $30 at Amazon or only the universal tether for around $5 at your nearest Auto shop store.

What broke? The tether? I usually cut the tether.
Why? So I can use the cap to jam in the pump handle when they've removed the lock latch. Particularly in the NE winter.
What a$$hat came up with slow as molasses pumps and oh hey, let's remove the lock latches so people have to stand there holding pump while the wind rips through them? Srsly.

Why we are still dealing with this idiotic old tech gas cap in mystery to me. Ford and Lincoln have done away with this stupid cap long ago and works better than fine. I've gotten so used to it that this is going to be a real pain to do at each fill up.

It it's actually a "real pain" you could always move to Oregon or NJ where an attendant is required to fill your tank.
