How to upgrade the base sound system

Audison ap8
Has anyone tried these Audison Ap8 woofers in the frontbass position?
My audio guy recons they will just drop right in, but I want to see if anyone else has tried them before I bite the bullet.
Currently have the focal krs-100's in the front doors and a pioneer ts-sw2002 in a small box in the boot/trunk, powered by a JL XD400 4 channel amp.
Was thinking of getting the ap8's up front to free up some boot/trunk space and have more bass in the cabin.

Has anyone tried the slim series of 4" from Ground Zero? I don't think its a problem to fit the in the front doors, both the component system or the coaxials. They measure a depth of 32mm and 30mm each.
I am thinking of installing them in my car but i am wondering about the sound quality.

I'd want to check the efficiency of them. The A20 has such low power output, heartier speakers may barely play on the stock amp.
If you're adding a DSP amp then I say go for it.

I did put a Earthquake 6.5in in the original bracket, only minor modification and a spacer is added to raise the woofer for the space is limited. It works fine woth the original output. Next step is to install a Match 62 DSP Amp which has 6 channel good for the additional woofer on the driver side. Any hints for connecting the woofer to the Amp as no cable and plug for the 8 pin woofer out from the Amp. I can find the 8 pin plug but don't know the wiring details.

My plan is to add the Match m5dsp amp, so i think they will work perfectly. They only think that worries me is the quality.
About the sub, have you done anything with the small enclosure? Something like stealthbox? I think you talked about it in an earlier comment.

I have a JL dual 8" sub that's fairly thin and fits exactly between the wheel arches and up against the back seat. It's overkill actually. I think a small powered sub like the Infinity BassLink would be a better choice.

I see, but i dont want to fill up the trunk in the c-class with sound systems. In my Audi A3 i do have some really good sound and also there i tried to keep the trunk empty, but managed to install an sundown audio x8 in the side of the trunk. I think the best for me is to find a nice alternative for the front bass in the s205.
What Vladarh has done is really nice and i think i will follow his path.

Yeah, all my trunk stuff...the Prima, JL Fix82 and sub amp are all stealth and installed either under the trunk floor or behind the liner on the right quarter panel. Only the sub box is visible. The Infinity has a tiny footprint but puts out nice tight bass and has an integrated amp. With just one footwell module needing to carry both midbass and low bass it's hard to avoid using that ready made resonance chamber in the boot.

Yeah, bass requires moving a lot of air around so it's hard to get big low end without a big enclosure. I've used the BassLink in my 220s where there was already 4 6" woofers plus a factory sub. I just wanted more emphasis on the kick drum and snare.

You know, i would really love to have an installation in the c-class as i have in the A3, but i dont really want to go down that road again! So much work and money!! It would actually have been much easier If MB used 6,5" speakers in all doors and a appropriate sub enclosure as BMW has.
One way or another nothing beats the looks in these w205, no matter the sound😉
By the way, i checked the accident that occured to you a couple of months ago, **** man! So good that everything turn out good with you and your daughter!

I hear ya. I've got a Lincoln MKZ as a loaner with the standard audio and it sounds great. Good old fashioned 6" 2 ways in all four doors and a sub in the rear parcel shelf. No injuries in the C wreck. The seat belt tensioners all sacrificed themselves, which is what pinned us so hard into the seats and prevented injury. I wasn't even a little sore the next day. The belts triggering scared my kid more than anything else.
So now I'm waiting for $4,000 worth of seat belt assemblies and an SRS module to get installed. $16,000 worth of damage so far. Glad I leased.
