Vibration on tight turns
#76
I got my car back today. They replaced steering rack and that did not fix the issue. The manager told me they even recreated the issue while the car was on the lift which is interesting. They were also able to recreate it in 3 other c450s. They made it clear that it is an issue and they are working to resolve it.
Until they come up with a fix they're allowing me to drive the car which makes me happy. I know what I won't be buying any time soon. Its a Gle350.

I don't exactly remember in what situation it occured. But defintely when switching from reserse and forward.
My previous W205 C300 did not experence it at all.

Confirmed today. I got an email stating that the C43s have the same exact vibration and that MB didn't want trade me into it because id be just as unhappy with that one. Just blows my mind something like this could make it to the final cut. Between this and the probably dozen plastic pieces creaking throughout, I doubt I will be in another MB. Makes me sad too cause otherwise I love the vehicle.

My W204 has this vibration, usually feel it when leaving a parallel parking spot. It feels like friction from the tires moving in a stationary spot, honestly it's not serious and never bothered me.

Sorry for the late response. No there is no fix for the issue. I assume they will have it all figured out by the time the 2018 comes out but who knows. They sure dont seem to worry much about it.

My car has been doing this since day one. If I am backing out of a space turning the wheel tight and start to move forward as im straightening out the wheels, the steering wheel vibrates. Its relatively strong, stronger than the feedback I get from the lane assist. It also happens if im doing a U turn and straightening out after the turn is accomplished.
I drive a C450, so im not sure if the odd 4-matic may have something to do with it. It doesn't feel like wheel rub and I haven't seen any marks indicating any rubbing is occurring.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I ended up getting rid of the car for other reasons however just prior to selling it, Mercedes was able to update the software and fix the problem. It took a lot of work for them to accept that it was an issue and fix it though.

Do you remember?
do you happen to know what software update they did? I have a 2016 C300 4Matic that dies this. It has 25,000 miles. It feels awful. Attached a video.

Did you fix your issue with the A35 AMG?
I have a somewhat similar problem. After installing winter tires and having the car aligned, it now vibrates when turning steering wheel and turning the steering wheel back to neutral position (only in 1st & 2nd gear <30 km/h).

The issue is Ackerman Effect, which is totally normal.
