Mercedes Benz American Express
I know American Express offers a Mercedes Credit Card but For those people who already have an Amex. I just saw you can use membership rewards points for a Service A or B certificate. They even have a voucher for $1000 off price of the car.
May consider this instead of buying the maintenance program next time around.
It's a good -just to know.

value of Membership Rewards (MR) points = 1.6 ~ 2 cents / point
Service A costs 26000 MR Points
which means you are spending $416 ~ $520 for service A.
Similarly
Service B would cost $928~$1160
And $1000 Certificate would cost $1600 ~ $2000
A definite NO.

By making a switch, you are paying $475 annual fee. And you lose the sign up bonus by switching. You just missed a 75k MR points sign up offer that was expired a few days ago.

Personally, I would not switch over just for that. (It's actually 2000 miles rather than 1000)

Your value of points is slightly off.
It actually equates to .01 per point
26,000 MR points is equivalent to $260.00
58,000 MR points is equivalent to $580.00
$1,000 certificate is 100,000 MR points
(ex. 100,000 x .01=1,000)
so if you see an offer for 75,000 points that would be equal to $750
I know the ratio sometimes varies by merchant like on Amazon or Apple its around 1.5 1.6 cents per point but most are the .01 per point
If you have an amex for biz its a nice little perk to earn some extra points too

No, it's 2000 miles if you get the platinum card. If you get the standard mercedes amex its 1000 miles and $95/year. I am going to get the standard one since I already pay the $475 for my primary amex platinum, and just switch over my Hilton amex that I never use to the MB one.

yeah its really no loss to me, I'm 13 months into my lease and was about 5k miles over but its slowed down dramatically since I stopped driving to NYC every other weekend to visit friends in the fall and winter. My milage might catch up by the end of lease, but I'll take any forgiveness I can get

My local dealer (San Francisco) just quoted these two prices for Service for an E63:
A: $431.32
B: $851.30
This makes it seem like a great deal for me. Does anyone know whether there are any hidden restrictions regarding the type of car or dollar amount? I don't want to waste all those points and then find out it only applies to specific cars.
Thanks!
