Mercedes (W205) C220d saloon AMG Line 2016 UK
Problems!
Problems!
I All. I recently purchased the stated model and for a while iv been avoiding to open a link to notify others of the issues but I really wanted to share the experience iv had from Mercedes W205 so that potential buyers are aware what they are letting them self in for!
Iv had Mercedes W203 & W204 and was happy. Then I Switched to Lexus IS300h which was very good but got bored and switched back to Mercedes W205..... At first I thought it was me coming from Lexus Hybrid on to a Mercedes Diesel but Please read below of the issues im having:
Bought/ took delivery of car in Late March 2016 after the Manufacturer delayed delivery due to factory issues!
10 days later the steering Column was faulty. Electric position adjustment stopped working. Was cured by new steering column but had to make 2 visits to the dealers and took over 2-weeks.
Both front door panels Squeak/Rattle. sounds like the glass is loose. Been in 4 separate times to dealers and still not fixed!
Panoramic Roof rattles even when go over a slight bump. Still waiting to see what dealers can find and do!
Leather looks like its been damaged at point of manufacture and then bodged up. (Pictures attached). Dealers waiting confirmation from Mercedes so they can replace!
Wood Trim also looks like been damaged at the point of manufacture and then finished off with a blob in centre but Mercedes disagree to replace as they argue its natural wood and will have slight defects!
Glove box also has Squeaks along with many more rattles from all over the vehicle!
Keyless Go. Unlock does not always function so have to find remote to unlock via remote!
Im sure there is also many more issues I will discover but Honestly very disappointed. Spoken to Mercedes and they refuse to even discuss taking the vehicle back. I feel and know iv been ripped off! but I and Mercedes know that there is not much I can do apart from be at they mercy for repairs!
Iv been in to dealer 9 times in total and out of these 9 times they have had my car in for repair for a total of 25 days and even today its still at dealers. yes they have given me a nice S-Class to drive also compensated me with a 2-year service pack (FREE). Buts its still not enough. I purchased a brand new car for a reason and having it stripped apart does not make me feel good or given me piece of mind of a brand new Mercedes.
Mercedes slogan: BEST or Nothing....... "Really!"
My car is only coming upto 4 month old of which nearly a month the dealers have had back for and only done 3k miles...... This MERECEDES W205 is definitely not from the German Engineering family. yes im aware its Assembled in South Africa but iv been told the SA plant has the highest standard!
Mercedes 21st Century...... God help you if you carry on with this sort of Quality!
Thanks for looking/Reading

Iv had local JCT600 Mercedes dealers on phone today and they stated Mercedes Warrantee will not replace the leathers as its a Machine error!
I think Mercedes are doing everything they can to push customers away!

I'm not sure what fault I'm looking at in the pictures? The wrinkles in the leather? If so then as leather is a natural product I'd expect variances. Keyless go issues can be sorted via software update. Rattles can be sorted by dealer. All cars are full of plastic now and there are rattles, annoying but there you go. I sorted all mine with a few pieces of felt pushed into parts that squeaked.
Hi, if you zoom in on between the 2 black stitchings you will see small slice/cut marks!
Thanks

Ah I see what you mean now, like something has sliced away the surface. I can't believe they'd tell you that's acceptable?! It's a fault no matter the cause.
So if you bought a new sofa but one edge was torn you'd be expected to put up with that because it was a machine error? I think not. The fact is you've paid for this so I suggest you continue to apply pressure.
My dealer in Stockport has been fantastic with the most minor issues.

I had to look twice as well. At first I also thought you meant the wrinkles, but yeah that's definitely damaged! They should swap out the whole seat for you.
Our Oz cars are SA built as well. I think the whole thing about it being the 'highest standard' factory is a bit of marketing BS to dismiss the fears that people held about them being built in that country. They suffer from the same problems as any other plant. Without accurate statistics it's hard to judge whether a German built MB is better than an SA built one. Overall it's probably quite similar. Most are undoubtedly trouble free, others a nightmare, and everything else in between. Every manufacturer faces those issues. Mine had 7 visits to the shop in the first 12 months of ownership - yet I still enjoy and love it. All things can get sorted out under warranty.
Persist with your complaints to the dealership. Ultimately they are the ones who have to keep you happy by making things right. I'm impressed that they gave you an S Class loaner. That obviously shows some good will on their part. Must be difficult to hand that one back

Too be honest Iv bought a few cars from the same dealership. And they definaltely know this car has issues but Mercedes are the ones who authorise replacement / repairs. I been to them earlier and spoken to the Manager and he will get back on to Mercedes in the morning to see what they can do... other that that he has agreed when they get a demo with same Leather's they will exchange!.... but then that means they passing on the problem to some1 else who gonna purchase that car...

I did have a Panoramic Sunroof issue where it was making a cracking noise (like a rattle, but more a plastic on plastic noise) when the internal blind was open. According to the MB dealer there was an assembly fault (when the car was made) and they replaced the glass panel with a car they had in stock. And the rattle in the doors was behind a speaker and it was from a connector. That was fixed with some felt tape behind the door panel.
